Time for a new phone
1. Tilt
2. Moto Q
3. I-Phone
For now I will not have the Data plan (internet or email access - Bosses/owners do not want to pay for it). But may get it later on.
Any ideas..........

I phone is badazz!
I have never seen the other 2 in person.
My EnV2 is pretty sick so far. I only use it for text and phone but I bet it is pretty great on the web.

I like the Moto-Q. Didn't experiment at all with it's internet capabilities, but loved it's video and mp3 playback. I could juice the video upto 20fps and it'd still play it on the moto-q. You can be kept busy for endless hours just watching and listening to stuff on it.
I was going to get another moto-q, but cricket doesn't offer it.
I hate all apple products for various reasons, so am biased against the iphone.
No experience with the tilt....

You can't get an iPhone without the data plan, so that might be ruled out.
I like my Q9m, and have bought 2 more Q9c's for people here at work in the past month.
Look at the Blackjack II, it's the same basic phone as the Q, but a little smaller. My IT consultant has one and it's nice.

any of those phones mentioned are pretty pointless without a data plan.

what carrier ? Verizon LG Voyager has a 3.2 mega pixel camera (most new phones only 2.0) and a true QWERTY keyboard that folds open....I advise against Motorola....they have some nice features but reliability issues from my own experience and friends. If u text alot...blackberry has voice recognition texting...if no internet get a LG Glimmer which is like a I-phone with nice touch screen features....:smokin:

He's AT&T
I have 7-8 Moto Q phones, several more RZR2's, we've had tons of original RAZR's, etc, and have never had a single Moto phone die.

May be able to pick it up later, Owners of company are scared of technology. They dont see the need in internet/email by cell phone. "You can email from your desk"!!!!!!!!!

From http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/articles-resources/iphone-terms.jsp
Data Plans: An eligible data plan for iPhone is required. This data plan covers data usage in the U.S. and does not cover international data usage and charges. If it is determined that you are using iPhone without an eligible data plan, AT&T reserves the right to add an eligible data plan to your account and bill you the appropriate monthly fee.

Who cares about pic messaging when you can just email pics from the phone. Granted someone without email capabilities can rec'v but eff'em. They need to get with the times.

I have the Tilt as well. Just make sure you download and install Kaiser Tweaks and the Proxy removal CAB. Also, reload through a hard reset the AT&T bloatware to speed it up.
Here's way more information than you will want:

No Data service right now. Bosses dont want to spend the money. May have to tell them to do it and I will pay for it. But I like it for sync'ing with my Outlook Calendar.

I would either go with the iphone or wait to see what android is going to do. Windows mobile just sucks. Maybe they will stick android on the black jack 2.

If you spend the time configuring WM6.1 and tailor it to your needs, it's not too bad. I just wish Apple would built a mobile OS that wasn't completely focused on entertainment apps.

WinMo 6.1 is by far, one of the best "smart phone" OSs out. The hardware takes most of the blame in performance. So far there have been too few handsets that had the horsepower to run the phone as it was designed.
Yes, MS could stand to drop a few things... And the OEMs need to build PROPER drivers that make thier crap hardware work with an ok OS.
But... with MS Mobile, there is currently no other platform that offers as many free customizable applications for thier platform. There is very little "locked down" in the MS OS. Then look at the iphone... Apple spends most of it's resources patching over things that get hacked!
Android is so new, it hasn't been broken in yet... I expect some horror stories as soon as it's torn apart by the development community. But I'm guessing Android will kill off the MS, Symbian, and Apple OSs becasue it's FREE, thus lowering the handset costs.

Android is promising, but Symbian still rules the wireless world.
On that note I'm still waiting for the c702i (http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/products/mobilephones/overview/c702) price drop, all I need is a rugged phone that works anywhere in the world. 3G and some more "standard today" features only help. :phone:

I say hold out for the Blackberry Storm. This phone looks awesome, the only downside to it is no wi-fi connection, but when you can get unlimited data plans who cares :)

OK, I do have a question... Since I dont have Data Service. No email, internet through the phone. What about if I am somewhere that has Wifi (at home I have wireless router for the laptop), would I get charged for connecting to the WiFi?

U won't get charged for connecting to the wifi.
U may/may not be able to use the data features of your phone (email, internet, etc) but they certainly can't charge you for that.

Try it. Some phones are setup so that if you're connected to a wifi, it'll route the call through the wifi using VoIP and the call is free.
Don't remember who offers that. Verizon???
The wifi connection will not make the phone act like a computer where you can transfer files or data from your computer over it. Atleast not on the Motorola Q series.
The internet on the phone SUCKS, and not because of the normally slow 3G transfer speed. The screen's just got too many limitations to make is as useful as a computer screen.
Let us know how you like the internet on the tilt. U know if you can watch streams using it?
The Motorola Q series is missing THAT feature.

Using the Tilt, you can do all your internet stuff through the Wi-Fi, just make sure you use that proxy disabler (it may be the only thing to screw up the no data thing).
You can also download and use a softphone on it. Since you're using the Tilt, you want to use AGEphone. I believe it's the only softphone that let's you use the 'normal' phone speakers on the Tilt instead of having to go speakerphone only. The only problem is that it costs $35 while the Window softphone, and many others, are free.
If you use a VOIP service for your home phone, you should be able to get SIP information from your VOIP provider. I use ViaTalk, and I'm able to use my 'home phone' anywhere I get Wi-Fi. I can have it on at work and when somebody calls my house, both my home phone and my Tilt ring. I can also call out from my Tilt as my home phone, and my home phone number shows on caller ID. Great if you ever call in sick and go out of town. lol
There are also some free SIP services as well as paid for ones where you're assigned a phone number.
ViaTalk is ok, but I only pay about $8 per month (signed up for a special and got a year for free) with free 411, free long distance, etc. It's basically a poor man's Vonage.
