I know this has been covered but can't find a concise answer using the search function.
I have a friend with a '91 Square Nose w/ stock 650 motor that needs a rebuild, so he is considering buying a drop in used 701 and doing the conversion.
Will someone give a short summary of the differences between the 61X 701 and 62T 701, the differences between them, and what either would need (intake / exhaust wise) to complete the exchange in a stock 650 ski?

You'll need the 701 motor with intake and carbs. The 61x cased motor is single carb, and 62t is dual carbs. You could use the 650 carb on the 61x intake if you want. They're both Mikuni SBN 44s. It's been posted that the internal circuitry is different though. You can get different intakes if you want to run duals on the 61x or singles on the 62t. The electronics will switch over, but the 6m6 has a lower rev limit. The 650 exhaust will bolt up to the 61x cylinder, but won't be ideal.
