So we own this 23ish year old Kawasaki 650 sx and have owned it since it was new. only things we have ever had to do were change the spark plugs and put gas in it. Well after it sat for 4 years with no one ever running it we had to clean out the carb, no biggie- that was 4 years ago.
And for the first time we have had to take it in to the shop. we heard a quiet whining when running it so we decided to take it up to our kawi shop to have them look at it. we get a call in under a week and all it needed was new pump bearings!!! This thing runs awesome and is still a blast to ride.
Just thought I would share how well it is running.

Not bad. Definately got your money's worth outa that ski then. My sx was pretty reliable also. The only issues I ever had with my old one was the starter went out on me once. Don't know first hand about the other Kaws, but the sx was for sure a dependable ski.

yup, when a ski doesn't make enough power to get out of its own way it tends to not break its self.
stock 650 yami's are like that too.

Haha. I totally agree. My stock X2 last year never had a problem. MY mod X2 this year has all but destroyed the hull, motor mounts, etc.. I've broken almost everything that can be broken this year.

It isn't stock, it has a pipe.

It isn't stock, it has a pipe.exactly my point, even with a pipe it doesn't make enough power to hurt it's self.

KAWASAKI Is the only way to go !
The first standup I ever owned was a 91 650 sx. Found it in this guy's backyard 4 years ago, it had sat for 2 years.
I offered him $250 for it and took it home that day. Put new plugs in it, drained the old gas, jumped the battery........it fired right up, a huge roach came scurrying out of the pump! (I killed it)
I sold it a year later when I moved up to the 99 SXI PRO which I still have, along with the 05 SXR which I bougth las year.
I have also bought (and sold) 3 SJ's since then, I just like the Kawi ride better!

It's kinda funny if you talk to alot of the real jet ski bumm's, they all laugh about old day 440's and then 550's. They talk about where it came from being a bildge pump motor in freighter's and kawasaki industries put it in there first jet ski that is how it all got started and they are right. So anyone who want's to knock a kawi had better consider the fact that NO ONE HAS EVER DONE IT BETTER THAN HUGH HEFFNER OR KAWASAKI >>>>> Alot have tried to knock off the pioneer but NO CIGAR !

yeah 750's are great if you like riding a porpoising pencil with no bottom end.....
so than you mod the sh!t out of it and turn it into a unreliable POS.

Any one who says a 650 Kawi dosen't run well has never ridden mine or Madscientists ski, mine is bone stock with a pipe mod turning a setback SXR impeller,it runs like a reaped ape and it does it all damn day long,I popped the hood once at the freeride, looked around for about two seconds ,put it back on and never took it off again, not even to put gas in it,I rode that bitch all damn day,go go green power!
