I have a HP laptop and the printer that came bundled with it is a Photosmart C4280 All in One and every time that I plug my computer into the docking station the printer tries to install a new version. The other week I had to delete something like 8 or 9 copies of the printer. Is there a way to stop it from installing a new version every time I plug my computer into our docking station?

There is a patch on the HP website to fix this.

Any idea how to find it or where it's located on their site?

It may be due to USB port assignments as well.
You may try taking the usb connector out of the docking station and putting it into the same laptop port each time.

It was doing the same thing before we purchased the docking station.

There is no uninstall patch for that model, so your problem is port assignments in Vista.
There is no fix for this besides plugging the printer directly into the laptop, in the same port each time.

I bet you were plugging your printer into a USB hub...

No USB Hub, however it is possible that it may have been plugged into different ports. Oh well I guess I'll just keep deleting printers once a week.
Thanks anyway.

If you plug it into different ports, thats what will happen (not to everyone).
The only other thing it could be, and this is highly unlikely, is there are left over parts of previous installations. There are many tutorials that can walk you through how to remove them.
But the different ports thing happens alllllllll, and I repeat, allllllll the time.
