Alright here it is in a nutshell , was lifting at the gym, got done decided to do a few sets of elevated push ups (feet elevated) and on the 2nd set my left arm gave out and this was about 3 weeks ago now , went to the army doc and he said probably just pulled something, motrin and flexeril!!! well not any better..
so not only now does my shoulder hurt like hellstarting at the base of my neck crossing my shoulder blade and into the tricep are of my arm. my arm is constantly tingly and almost numb feeling, and I decided to go to the gym last night to see how it was reouping so I start with my decline chest press which Is normally around 180 on the bar , well maxed 5 reps at 70 pounds, I am pissed!!!! not like 180 is anything to brag about but damn
anyone ever have problem like this ???

Sounds like it might be a pinched nerve. My right shoulder/back area was like that last year forever it seemed like. I finally went against my own beliefs about Chiropractors, and went. Within a couple of days I felt like a million bucks! Now I am a beliver in those guys. They can work some magic.
I'm no doctor by anymeans, but it sounds like that might be what the case is. ??

yeah that was a thought I had too , but we dont have chiropractors over here so I will probably try one when i head home for leave in Late August for 2 weeks

Well good luck with it. Hopefully that's all it is so they can crunch you around a bit and you'll be good as new and back at it!
could be a pinch or a strain or more than likely a combination
motrin around the clock
600 mg three times a day with food for at least a week regardless of pain.
unless you have bum kidneys
also once things ease do some neck /shoulder stretching type exercises
that should do you well
once the swelling goes away then hopefully the nerve compression will ease up as well
if not you need to see a real doc, perhaps may have a slipped disk or compression fracture??
of course since i have no diagnostic or perscriptive ability by law i have to add this disclaimer.
that is what most of the time our docs will treat this with. this is of course at your own risk to take or not
( but ill bet it helps)
good luck bro

go see a chiropractor that specializes in art(active release therapy) and they can get you back to where you were in no time!!!!!!!!!!

well its been about 4 weeks now and no improvement, typical army docs if it isnt obvoiusly broke or bleeding they think you are full of it, and wont do ******** for you.. three trips in now and they wont MRI it, all they do is say eat some more motrin 800 and flexeril have a nice day see ya Buh bye...
so in the mean time my left arm is still numb and tingly most of the time and my shoulder blade is still on fire, and then at the rate I am going will have a hole in my stomach from all the motrin and ibuprofen I am taking!!!
damn i need to quit being such a vag !!!! LOL :kabong:
do you guys have physical therapy possibilities there? maybe a therapist can help you out some? helps often but not always

yeah I just got a referral today .. went to schedule and they dont have opening for like 10 days , we go on leave in 6 and her answer was well guess you can just wait the 3 weeks til you get back..
well if your insurance covers it i would just go to a local private practice / rehab center while on leave
they can usually get you in real fast . and once they assess and start working with you they will give you exercises to take with you

Jeesh...I thought they would really take care of you guys.
My PT girl just make me to specific exercises to overall strengthen the area but my shoulder will never be the same IMO. Maybe if I quit riding.
Mine sounds like yours though.....impingement.....constant IBU's

no the problem you run into is there is always some kid trying to scam outta work by claiming injury and they just become immune to the shizz.
I have had guys in the past take the smallest thing and turn it into something major to get out of a run or some work, so i can see where they come from but when you are one that actually fudges themselves up it is a pain in the ass,
Maybe if I quit riding.
shhhhhhh don't say silly things

im a emt with 13 years experience also a long time lifter. it sounds to me like a torn rotator cuff.u need sling and swathe(to immobilize your shoulder) and ice therapy for 10 to 14 days.go back to workouts light and slow. once torn will never be the same without surgery try to make unkle sam fix it.

I second that........I tore my rotator cuff and just nursed it for about a year. Go to a doctor. If I had my shoulder scoped and fixed I think it would have healed properly. It still tingles/throbs from time to time after doing push ups

Man since this thread started I have now really tested this kinesio tape. This stuff is amazing. At $6 per roll for the understuff and 6 per roll for the tape it will be a semi expensive life log addiction but oh well...it works that good.
It is kinda useless during riding ( I will try try the waterproof stuff soon) but man afterwards it really holds your shoulder in place for a few days while you kinda heal.....not that a separated AC ever really heals. But it lets me forget about it.

My girl uses something similar to that after a v-ball game. She has rotator cuff issues from years of play. I can watch her serves and if she brings the heat I know her shoulder will be throbbing by the time we get to the parking lot.
