View Full Version : 93 Super Jet - Electrical Issue

Picked up a 93 Superjet SN the other day...and the hull says 650, however the motor says:
61X-0
J700E 70

I am trying to find out how I can determine what year this motor is for replacement part information.

++++

My issue is that the motor will run like a champ for a few moments, then feel like it is missing, then it won't run past a fast idle (fear that the temp sensor is kicking in), etc.

I have replaced the plugs, CDI (went with 62T), and cleaned all internals to the E-box. I have cleaned up all wiring contact points and resolved several corroded terminals...replaced what appeared to be faulty wires in various places.

Had a local ski repair dude tell me immediately that it was not the carb and that he was 100% sure it was still a pending electrical issue. He ran it for several minutes for confirmation at his lake house.

That said, he feels it is the Stator Plate and that I should at the very least clean it well and most probably replace it.

Can anyone lend any advice?

Could this be bad plug wires potentially?

My email is cuerx@hotmail.com if anyone wants to go external to this site for communications.

Thanks,

Patrick

trim the plug wires back, and or bypass the KILL function of the start/stop switch ( black white wires and connector near the E box)

you can temporarily unhook the over heat sensor to see if thats what is causing the problem.

are you sure its not overheating?

if the engine says 61x, its a 61x 701 engine.
