...And it sucks!
I got my wisdom teeth out and it sucks, my cheeks are fatter than...something that is fat. I dont even know, but what I do know is I am going out on the water wednesday and hopefully tomorrow.
Im actually not even in much pain, just lots of swelling, but I took the vicadin anyways.
...should be kicking in soon...
Oh well, if I cant get out tomorrow, I will definately be working on my ski.

I thought getting my wisdom teeth out was going to hurt a lot more than it did. I guess you and I got lucky?!? I saved the vicoden for when I hurt myself on the jetski.

My face swelled up super bad. The doctor said it was the steroids they use in the surgery. It was NOT fun.

i had mine removed 1 1/2 years ago, i didn't find it to bad, they knocked me out and it was over in an hour, no swelling just had to get used to how my mouth felt afterwards. i went back to work the next day no problems there, doc said take a week off, a WEEK, lol what a joke, i've had sh-it cramps worse than that.

On the first two they gave me sodium Penethol ( sp) and that stuff sucked. Then to top it off, I got dry socket, which is painful.
The second two teeth they gave me a Valium and Demoral drip and sent me home with Percodan. Needless to say, I never felt a thing and was at work the next morning.

Back in the day, I had mine taken out on a Friday. On Saturday I got my hair permed. When I went back to work on Monday all my customers were asking what happened to my hair. I just told them I had wisdom teeth cut out. Ask me a stupid question....you're gonna get a stupid answer:biggrin:
Oh & had no pain ever....my sister however laid on the couch for a week & looked like a swollen chipmunk for another week after that.

I remember when i got mine out....two days on the couch fealing like i was a drug head. One day was pretty much just sleeping and the other was just in and out fealings...it sucked.
After that i just sat around and wrenched on the ski
Finding food is the tricky part but heres what i found.
Soft Tacos, Macaroni and Cheese, Baked Potatoes, and salad.
Also....BE SURE to use that needle thing to wash out those holes in your mouth(lower ones mostly) Food will get trapped in there and its healing really fast and the food decays under the skin causing some bad pain. It happen to me. It sucked bad

they were blowing smoke....steroids DECREASE inflammation :aargh4:I didn't know steroids were given when they extracted wisdom teeth. And not to hijack thread, but steroids can cause swelling that could be confused with inflammation of certain areas of the body, especially the face....hence the term moon face.

Steroids make you retain water, your face will get bigger with heavy steroids, as will your whole body with long term usage.

Actually I did take pics, Im too ashamed to post them though!
I must say, there is hardley any pain, I will give you that. The pain isnt bad at all, Ive had worse and been through worse.
But my face is getting bigger and bigger, and hasnt gone down one bit, in fact, it just keeps getting fatter. I cant close my mouth, and the left side of my face is swellling so bad that my eye is turning black and wont open all the way...
This sucks.
Plus, I can only take three vicodin before I get sick to my stomach and have to sleep on the bathroom floor next to the toilet. I wish they gave me percased instead!

Have you called and talked with your dentist? I had swelling, but you sound almost like you are having some sort of reaction??? That or the dentist really did a number on your face.

I took a trip back to the doc today, the swelling is worse. He said this is the worst day, and from here it should go down. He also packed my sockets with anitibiotic strips because I am very close to dry socket, so he packed them to prevent that and infection. He shot me up with some pain medicine that felt nice, and then he said that it would be about five days until the swelling starts going back to normal.
ARGHH
So...no work tomorrow, or Friday since I have to go back to the office, MAYBE saturday if my face doesnt look to ********ed up.
Im PISSED! I was supposed to better by today!

That dry socket is not a lot of fun. Good thing you went back in.
You talking about your face being so swollen reminded me of something. My dad was admitted into the hospital on the day that I had my wisdom teeth pulled. My dentist was just across the street from the hospital, so just as soon as I got out of the chair, I of course went across the street to check on my dad. I remember ( I was still a bit out of it) riding on the elevator and the people were really staring at me. I just figured it was because my face was swollen. When I got up to the room I realized that I had a big wad of bloody gauze hanging out of the corner of my mouth.. I bet they thought I had been beat up or something.

Haha.
I wore a hooded sweatshirt today and kept the hood up the whole time, tight around my face. Everyone was still staring at me everywhere I went. Eitherway I would have looked like a fool.

Just had mine out. I am in some pain but it isn't as bad as I thought. Then again it sucked bad yesterday when I woke up from the surgery. This is the second day. I held off taking my pain pills and now I am feeling real good :) Anytime they have to put you to sleep, drill and chisle a part of your body out, that is not a good thing....
