I just picked up a super clean, original owner 94' Yamaha FX1. I'm a big guy (6'1" 250lbs) and am looking for some suggestions on the best "bang for my buck" mods. I have a budget of $1,000. The ski is bone stock except for a Quadrafin extended ride plate. What do you guys recomend? Pipe, wake up kit, pump/impeller mods? I don't want to sacrafice reliability. It seems like everyone is running a Factory Pipe and thier website says it will add 19.8hp and 7.2mph with just the pipe. Can anyone vouch for that? Sounds to good to be true. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!
P.S. I know i'm too fat for an FX1, but I love it!

Factory B-Pipe and change out the pump to a 144 courtesy of Bonzia Bob. He gets on here regular, PM him about it, he'll fix you up.

a bonzia pump conversion and new factory pipe will push him over the $1000 limit, but I agree, if you do those two, you'll love that boat.
It might even be worth it to do the pump conversion first.

i would have to agree with duck and oxnard. do the pump conversion first. that 120 pump sucks.

Now the pipe listed on the Factory Pipe website, is that the B-pipe or is there more than one type of pipe they made for the FX1?

Just get a FX-1 "B" pipe...of course you'll need the rev-limiter mod or a MSD enhancer with that pipe also(because of the extra RPM limit). Oh yea...don't forget the impeller.
That Quadrafin is probably the best all around ride plate you can get for a FX.

Pipe and pump upgrade. I have ridden one stock since new and after riding Odd Ducks I went out and bought the pipe and modded my own 144 pump and installed it. Makes the ski wayyyy better.

Thanks guys. I think I'll start with the Factory Pipe pipe and when my budget allows hit up Bonzia Bob. Wheres the best place to get a B pipe? Direct from Factory Pipe? Do any used ones ever pop up on Ebay, or on X-H20? Any one got one?

They come up here and there but seem to go for anywhere from 450 on up and you dont know what condition it is truly in till you get it in your hands. Factory may not be making anymore so I would just bite it and give factory a call.
The first time you get on after the install it will be worth every penny.

I picked up a FX1 with the FX1 BPIPE, quadra fin, unknown toploader, unknown prop, and an enhancer, single 44. Ski needed a new topend, so that will be ready for thursday. Does it need anything else besides the pump swap? This is just a spare ski so I dont want to spend too much.
Soooo stoked out to rip on my first pole ski in 5 years! And its even got pimpin purple turf.

Talked to Factory Pipe today and they don't have any FX1 pipes in stock and they have not yet decided if they will make more this winter.

We broke down on the whole waiting for one to magically appear on the X and bought one from Blowsion. They had them in stock (with the FX1 chamber so it doesn't rub).
