crouched and ready to roll
Sunk the ski yesterday pulling a customers boat in,so Since I had to pull the tank anyways I put in a JS550 tank, cut up the battery box and installed a small sealed battery and new straps, removed the fire ext. compartment and the bracket, took off the front dash panel and foamed and turfed it,I also put on my new bars which feel much much better. Now I need to find a PJS WATERBOX for a 650-X2 anybody have one?
addict has the stamped ss "pjs, mariner, no name" box
there is a pic in his build thread, the first one we tried.
loud!!! but might be better if you inject some water and i dont think it would be that bad if it was run out the rear. he was running it in p-cola so you heard it.
well that box is awesome for zero weight. it has to weight no more then a couple pounds.
but its pretty much a straight thru system

his is going to have a concave deck, which will help in the stress dept. as well as it will be like having a kick tail all the way around the ski for leverage

I had a piece of 650 SX someone gave me once. It was the back half of the tray. I guess I was more of a speed demon back then because I planned to make hull extensions from the crapped hull piece.
But anyway... the foam in that hull was dry as could be! Water logged foam... that must be a Super Jet thing...
looks killer terry...and thanks again recieved today

Totally different animal,I am not sure what the weight difference is but it is considerable.I have lopped of everything that could be possibly be lopped off and replaced the bedplate and battery with lighter components, its light just not sure how light yet,I will see if the local recycling place will weigh it for me.

I have a brochure somewhere from my 91 650 SX I used to own. It may have the weight on it. Something like 272 or 275 comes to mind. Of course a later model SX will weight a hair more because of the rear exhaust than a pre 91 but nothing too noticably different. I imagine you could have 10 to 15 or even 15 to 20 pounds less than an X2. X2's have a lot of little stainless pieces here and there on them. It all adds up!

I am basically a lazy bastid and don't want to throw my back out of whack, when that happens I can't get my groove on for about a week, besides I had a weak back about a week back.:icon16:

I think its more like 284 lbs.the stock handlepole weighs right at 20 lbs with steering attached, thats not counting the steering bolt and nut, brackets and bolts, the stock hood weighs 16.4 ,the new hood weighs 23.2 with everything attached including the heavy ass X2 sub bracket. There is where most of the weight loss was ,the hood is a few lbs more with all the new steering equipment attached.I lost a lot of bracketry and fluff, foam and glass don't add a lot of weight.I am guessing around 270 lbs.

It has a very nice ride, very controllable,no crouch at all due to the adjustable steering,I have it set up the same height as an X2:splatt:
