it had a scoop intake grate, stainless prop, and an alum pole + that's about it.

i'll post some pic's of my buildup.

here's the 1st draft of my 95 sn.

i had to replace the ac handle pole bushing's right off, and put some new grips on.

protec ext'd ride plate was installed.
a newer nose - gas cap cover was installed.
a new k-n air filter was installed.

wash reg was about $100 too

i got an alum waterbox, and my special fx1 cheater pipe to install next.

Man your boat looks exactly like mine, right down to the stock decals and a rideplate similar to my Worx dominator plate. I don't have the fancy pole though.

What this FX1 cheater pipe you're talking about? You've definitely got my attention.

Long live the stock decals!!

FX1 cheater pipe? westcoast maybe?

i am going to use a coffmans 650 sizzler exhaust manifold and a stock kawasaki 650sx pipe.
yes, kawasaki pipe.

i installed it in a 95 fx1 i had, then i added another extra 4" section of stinger pipe to the setup.
the fx1 has limited space for a/m pipe anyway.
here's a pic of the cheater pipe in had in my old 95 fx1.
it has a factory pipe 61x exhaust manifold on it.

it's works too.

the stock decals will be coming off this week.

I'm surprised the 650 pipe would make that much of a difference on a 701. I guess the secret is the extra volume created with the 4" extension. I know on a 650sx a stock pipe feels far inferior to the aftermarket ones that are much larger. Although I've never tried one with an extension.

I'm disappointed to hear the stock decals are going. I'm gonna rock the pink and purple forever. Some guy razzed me about my stock decals like yours last week. I don't care... my setup was way better than his rusty Sunfire without any jetskis behind it. Until someone comes up with some cold hard proof that removing those decals actually helps performance... they are there to stay - haha.

you may be right.
i got other things to do with this superjet.

stock decals might keep the "water cops' away from me ???
they always seem to go after the nicely painted - real expensive looking ski's anyway !!!

rode it this weekend, and the sbt 61x motor was a little monster.
had a gr8 time, and it was 101' in pdx sat, and 95' on sunday.
i had to work on sunday.

Stock decals help to create the ski a bit of a "sleeper". Looks stock on the outside, but there's more surprises underneath. Heck I even kept the dumb water fountain thing on my turn nozzle.

I'm definitely jealous of the hot temperatures. Our summer in Canada hasn't been all that warm this year.

i know what you mean !!!
i grew up in the sf bay area, and all there is down there is fog.
it's been very nice the last couple of weeks, and i should be posting some more pic's of misc stuff i am doing to my 95 sn this weekend.

good luck

i'm on the sn buildup again now that i'm settled in downtown las vegas.

i removed the stock waterbox + yamaha stock pipe and found that the inner rubber coupler on the pipe was torn and leaking.
what a find !!!

i then installed the sn factory pipe waterbox i got here, the factory pipe 61x ex manifold i got from nikad58, and did a dry run on the cheater pipe i got from a memebr on pwctoday.
i find out the rubber coupler for the cheater pipe was torn as well, so i am on parts patrol here in las veags today.

i may not get out sunday to get wet with the las vegas wed riding crew.

here's more pic's of where i'm at now.

i may just spend sunday with the striping wheel and get rid of the stock 95 decals ???

the factory pipe waterbox is done.
i almost got the whole sj chaeter pipe done.
the 650sx pipe i got from a member on pwctoday had a torn rubber coupler.
i'm just waiting for find a used 4" coupler for the chamber to stinger, do some water line routing, and then i should be good to get wet + tune.

Looks good!

So is that a stock 650sx head pipe on that pipe? It looks like it to me.

I'm interested to hear a report on how it performs in comparison to the stock pipe setup - things like where the pipe makes all the power (low end/mid/top end). What did you have to bump your jetting up to?

gorilla

i'm just going to try it with the stock carb for now.
so riding buddy's might bring out there jet box, then i can play with the carb.

i know from exp (95 fx1) that this is the cheapest way to get the monster out of a 61x motor for hardly any banana's.

Sounds good. I'm always interested in some cost effective ways to get some extra power. I'm looking for a cheaper alternative to the B-Pipe right now myself.

Keep us posted on how the carb jetting goes.

the 95 fx1 i had, had the same pipe setup on it.
it had the good wetjet 46mm intake setup too.
i put 145-120 jets, a 95 spring, + a 2.3 n's.
it had 18lbs of pop-off.

started everytime - right away, and even idled.

it was a little monster !!!
but too small of a hull for my fat a$$ !!!

gorilla

gorilla

that 95 sn came alive !!!
all i had to do was back the low speed jet out to 2 turns.
i'm sure if i had the time to play with the stock 44mm sbn carb, i could make it a litttle better, but it worked fine for my fat a$$ !!!

that is by far the best banana's you can spend on a upgrade compared to the stock bozooka yamaha pipe !!!

i wish i would of kept that 46mm wetjet carb + intake manifold that i put on a 95fx1 i had earlier this year, than sold !!!

good luck

is there a right up anywhere for this 650sx mod? you think this would work for a 650 yamaha?

Super Dee
10-29-2008, 11:28 PM
How much of an improvement over the stock Yamaha cannon would you consider this mod to be? I don't know if you've been on a 701 stock motor with a B-pipe, but if you have, how does it compare to that? I'm assuming it's not as good, but how would you rate it on a scale of 1 -10? Say for example that the stock Yamaha setup is a 1 and the B-Pipe is a 10? I'm just wondering if this is something worthwhile I should look into doing over the winter since I don't have the cash right now to come up with a decent authentic pipe for my 701.

about an 8.5 with a stock 61x motor + sn alum waterbox.

i had a 93 701 61x sn with dual sbn 38's on it + a f/b limited pipe.
ever time i try'd to ride, the chamber kept falling off-apart from the head pipe, so i sold it + never really got a chance to get it wet and see how far i could take it.

get an ex manifold 1st !!!
thats the key !!!

i have another stock 650 kawasaki pipe setup with an a/m longer stinger if you want to do some testing.
it needs to be mod'd + a the stock big rubber coupler replaced.
i had to use it on my sn.

good luck

Hmmm this is really grabbing my interest. I think I'm going to look into this as a small winter project. It's already snowed here in Ontario once, so as far as I'm concerned, the riding season is done. I'll have to keep my eyes open for parts over the winter.

Thanks for the feedback too!!

i just put some r-pot side trim tabs on the rear tonight.
the stock bolts for the black rubber coated metal piece that holds the side + rear bumpers together did not work, not long enough.
lowes had some longer stainless bolts.

i ran out of rivets putting it all together, so i will get some more on sunday and finish up that handling mod.

i'm going to glue some gorilla weights inside the engine compartment in between the gas tank and motor too.
these are the same one's i put in a fx1 in had last year.
