Might be entering the kawi scene with an X2 soon. alot of good deals have popped up in the area. What are some of the major issues with X2's and what should i pay close attention to when walking one over?

What is the compression ranges on a good 650 and 750?

half of the ones I seen have had a hole in the front area somewhere. don't know why they just had hand size punctures. maybe check how the hood fits, how old the coil wires are, I think mine are breaking down. if salt riden, look at the pump( you should know about that tho ) I am sure some experts will chime in.

i would say the same as any ski, except for; look really close at the upper section around the steering mount they are a little weak there and look under the seat at the sides if it was ridden very hard its a little weak there as well. at the very rear after the ramp down check to see if its separating at all along the edges, most of the hulls ive seen have had some due to water or freezing water lol
hope that helps
legdragger is the man to ask here, if it can be broke he has done it im sure.

they are Kawasakis! LOL

Compression should be ~150; book says 130 - 170, which is a huge range

1992 750, original everything, never been bored or modded, fires on the first crank every time!

im pretty sure the bottom, kinda under the nose. i had a hole also. i think its from people hitting rocks when beaching it.

Yep. Also make sure there are no cracks in the rear bottom. They get water in the foam and lower chines, then freeze and crack the bottom. If its bad enough it can total your hull (trust me). Personally if you have alot of yamaha parts, I'd think this one over. It SUCKS having to maintain both Kawi and Yamaha skis. X2s find ways to break...ALOT. As soon as someone makes a lightweight new style with a yamaha drivetrain....I will not have any more kawi driveline X2's.
