X2 crapping out...

I ran my 86 X2 for 2 days with no problems.. then it died.. got it back to shore and it will idle but as soon as u give it gas it dies.. if i prime it, start it and gun it, it will run fine until i bring it back to idle speed and then try and open the throttle.. then it will die again... plugs where checked. swiched 28mm carburators and had same problem. external fuel pump seems to be pumping gas but i dont have replacement to know for sure..

any ideas??

check the fuel pickups and on/res valve for blockage. also, make sure your pulse line is pulsing and not damaged.

Make sure you don't have an exhaust leak. My buddys 750sx did the same thing when his manifold bolts loosened and blew the gasket.

It sounds like a fuel issue for sure. Like the guys have already said, check all fuel lines, pulse line and fuel pump. Clean the carb out. If you pull the fuel line off the outgoing side of the fuel pump it should pump fuel when you crank it over with the wires off the plugs. Hook it to the trailer or dock and water test it and see if you see any exhaust leaks too. Try it with the hood on and off. Make sure the hood isn't kinking the fuel lines when it closes.

thanks for the suggestions guys. i think its the external fuel pump thats causing the problem.. i checked jsut about everything else mentioned. and i even tried a spare 28mm carb.. gonna look for a complete 38mm setup to upgrade to.

I got one dual carb set up on ebay now ending tomorrow 4651462856 I also have brand new SBN 38 mikuni $80 shipped to 48 states.
