View Full Version : New Ride Zone
Conquistador
05-07-2008, 08:53 PM
 As you may remember, the ride area for WaveDaze 07 was from 9th-14th streets. This year we have moved the zone from 6th street to 11th street. There will be a 35 mph speed limit imposed within the zone this year and north to south and visa versa is discouraged. This new ride zone helps with better locations related to our new official hotel, parking, potential hazards regarding the pier, and overall, it will help make things easier for the physical operation of the event. Our new center of event activities will be off of a walkway that extends from 8th street. This is 5 blocks farther south than last year! It is also more centered within our ride area. Much thanks to the Virginia Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau for all their help! :woot:
The ride zone will be in effect from 9AM-6PM October 4th and 9AM-5PM October 5th.

Just to let everyone know how well Conquistador and CapeHenry has set up this sweet event up.
This should grow to be one of several ANNUAL major freestyle events on the East Coast that would bring the far north people and the southern contention to one central location with enough space to ride.
The designated ride zone is the largest on the east coast and to get a Hotel on the Ocean Front in Virginia Beach for $69 a night is unheard of.
Hope you all can make this......

Last year surf was 4-6' saturday & 3-5 on sunday, temp was in the 80's. That said, we can only hope to have weather that good again. The lowest temp that weekend in the last 6 years was 55deg. We usually get decent surf Sept-Dec.
There are cams
1st st: 6 blocks south of the ride area

Croatan: (about 2 miles south of ride area, this is where we ride in the summer to avoid people)

As far as depth, I not 100% sure, but if you stab hard enough, you'll hit bottom. I'd guess it's similar to Daytona, but we don't have that 3rd break like tona.
The East Coast Surfing Championships are held here each August and they have some useful info no their site too. www.surfecsc.com

Yea.... it's at the temp that if you need a suit, you are likely missing your balls as well.

I've been riding in FL up until now. That sounds cold for my thin blood. Say what you want, I'm packing my shorty wetsuit for the weekend.

I'm from Jersey dude...I'm used to riding in 56* water.
I'm not some Florida boy that needs a wetsuit during summer.

Just wondering not sure if I missed it. Is there a map that shows where we can tote across right at the hotel ? Is there also a relationship to how far it is where quads will be toting them across ?
