Well then dont hit it with a wrench:biggrin: It does scratch a little easy but it will hold up to the heat

OK.

Thursday night, leaving in the morning..

ski starts and runs.
but I really suck at the TURF!
I need to watch someone do it that has done it alot, its not intuitive to me, I heated, stretched, beat, measured, cut, trimmed, dry fit, multiple times. and it looks like hammered dog ass.

oh well.

no time on the water yet, and VERY little run time at all ( its late, the neighbors already hate me!) and I was choking myself in the garage with the door shut.

its 90% ready to ride.

an hour tomorow morning and its on the trailer and headed to Missouri

I like the lines you taped on the hood...and the rest of the boat looks great too.

Is that a stock Roundnose pole bracket?? If so what was involved it fitting it? I thought it wouldn't work.

hey you copied me,jk, do you have a pole pad or something so it doesnt bang on the hood? i really like the rn pole. have fun

Mouthfulloflake

the stock RN bracket fits easily, you have to drill new holes, and make a new backing plate.

it doesnt go UP far enough.
so I ground the end of the pole, problem solved.

MattE sold me a pole, I dont think it was this one though.
Didnt you sell me a Blue one Matt?
I still have that one, I got this one from Art Maybee, and I shortened it 3.5 inches ( its SHORT)

No time to make a pole pad.
this is silly but it works well.
I weaved some rope back and forth across the hood thru upper hood vent holes, and it holds the pole up in the perfect place.

ugly, or lets say a VERY maritime theme....but it works, and I dont care at this point!

I couldnt even find all of the plastic trim or front bumper.

Screw it, its on the trailer, fueled, and Mrs mouthfulloflake and I are about to go try it out.

she says that her white beater ski now looks like azz, so I guess Ill be doing this again soon.

Oh yeah, Wax!

Im alot older than I look, but I do always get carded!

nice, this the engine you were going to port?

Mouthfulloflake
06-04-2006, 09:54 PM
thats ONE of the engines I had planned to port.

actually though, it ran strong this weekend ( when it ran, i was fighting some fuel and jettng issues I think, along with colling lines, and water ingestion)

it was strong when it ran right though, so I might keep it as a back up.

iev got another 701 cylinder to port, but a ported cylinder will end up in those boat, probably next winter.

right now, the unported 701 with a coffman pipe, westcoast head, and msd, and 12/15 concord is more power than I need at my skill level.

so im going to ride it this summer and enjoy having 2 skis before I tear one down again!

its tied to the middle of the limiter rope, it keeps it bent towards the front of the ski.

( like a bungee, its surgical tubing)

Both ends of the limiter rope are hooked to the eye on the pole in those pics.

what got your engine compartment dirty?

Ill pull it again this winter, ive got a ported larger bore engine to go in.

this is just thrown together for this summer.

Ill paint it again if it gets dirty.

Dirty water, tiny slow exhaust leak, laziness, WD40, etc.

dang man.

I CARE about my boat, I get in there after every ride with a toothbrush, and some baking soda, and REALLY scrub it well.

no im kidding, I did put some dishsoap in there yesterday, and the hose, and let the bilges run for a while, my needle/seat was leaking, and on a 200 mile road trip filled the cases with fuel. tried to crank, hydrolocked.

removed plugs, spewed FUEL everyone, all on my, in my eyes, hair, clothes, all over the boat.
it was a mess.

It almost put my cigerrette out!

( thats a joke)

I have to say though, its alot more enjoyable to workon a boat thats clean inside, I need to route some stuff better, and organize it inside better, they made fun of me this weekend for my over zealous use of zip ties.

when you did the conversion for the RN pole were you able to use the stock SN steering cable or have to replace with a RN cable.

I quess what i need to knwo is...are the steerign cables the same or different between a SN and RN??

I used the stock square nose cable, as well as the swuare nose turn plate, and the cable was buit too long, and I didnt route it correctly, it needs to go around thewater box... oops.

I also shortened that pole 3.5 inches, so the cable has some slack INSIDE the hull.

it all hooks up and works though, no problem.

Allright! Thanks for the update! Like I said, the ride looks great. Can't wait to see it in action. Some time this summer we'll be coming to Beaver Lake. Just not sure when.
