I would like to come and I just made tentative reservations but I'm still having tuning woes. I took my ski out again today but I just couldn't get it 100%. It's almost there but not quite running right. I'm sure there will be some tuning gurus there but I would hate to take away from someone elses fun. Anyone willing to help me out getting my ski dialed in?

What is your ski doing?

Runs dirty/muddy from just off throttle to about 1/4 throttle. Tried everything, raising and lowering popoff, pilot jets you name it. It will not clear up. Other than that it rips.

What did you change to cause it to run that way?

I went to a single 46mm carb seup.

I have never tried a 46, because i heard they were hard to get the low, mid, and high perfect. That is just what I have heard. I run a single 48 powerbomb on a 781 ported

What are your jetting specs? And what do you have done to your motor?

Stock 62T, stock ported, ADA head and B Limited pipe. Running a Tau Ceti F/A.
This was the closest as I could get it. Either way on the pilot, got worst. Lowered or raised popoff from 14 psi to 21 psi, wouldnt clear up. Other than it not being crisp from just off throttle to 1/4 throttle it hits hard as hell and runs great.
125 Pilot
140 main
95 gm spring
2.3 n/s

Mike, didn't you ditch the 38's because you were essentially having the same problem?

With the 38's it was worst. Trying to rule out jetting before I start ripping things apart.

Have you tried higher popoff? Like 30-35 psi? Most jetting recommendations I have seen for single carb setups usually are using a 2.0 n/s with a 115 or 95gm spring.

No I haven't but I will give it a shot. Couldn't hurt anything.

We run about 30-32 psi pop-off on our single 48 Mikunis, so I would think the pop off at even 24 would be waaaaay too low.
FWIW, I suck at carbs and keep is simple with a simple 48 for this very reason.

Do you have a resrictor in your return line

X2 brother.

I was told that out of the box 46's like mine have internal restrictors already.

Not sure about the 46's but I run a restrictor with a #60 jet
