Alright after snowboarding all winter my knees have been killing me. it might be too late but im buying braces for this season of surf thrashing. Not sure what im going to get yet but i know i cant afford CTI2s and my insurance wont pay for them either. So im looking to see whos wearing what. what they like and dislike. Let me know!!!!

CTi2 are very good.
I'm currently on my second set of Asterisks.
My knees were already hammed when I broke the top if my right tibia plateau a year and a half ago.

How do we mark a thread to follow it. This is one i can't wait to see the feedback. I have one bad knee that needed to be operated on 15 years ago. I have a feeling after my May 4th 10 mile cancer run i will need a knee brace and something more.

My knee doc told me that he felt that exercise and strength training was better than a brace. with a brace you are only supporting the problem, not trying to correct. Yes, in some cases people do have to use them. Thinking more when you have ACL type damage. I have had 2 knee surgeries on the same knee and with just riding bikes can keep the pain away....

first off find another ortho that will right a script for it and insurance will have no choice. next i have had bad knees for 20yrs ok no jokes yes 20years. i have tried several braces all of which were paid for by insurance, but i have found the cti2 and a townsend to be the best.right now i have 1 of each i do seem to like the townsends better but that imo. i snowboard ride mx and rip it up on the water with total confidence

You are absolutely correct. Execise IS the best option. My knees have been scoped so many times it's rediculous. My docs have been warning me for years if I keep doing what I do then I'll need a replacement at an very early age. The a year and a half a go I pretty much destroyed my right knee. I did some major soft tissue damage to my ACL and MCL and broke the tibia plateau in 3 places. No amout of PT has been able to correct the fact that I no longer have any real strength in that joint. The braces i ONLY wear when doing an activity that could cause my knee to fold back on itself again, such ad dirt bike riding or surf riding. for flat water I dont use them.

weighted lunges are your best friend. And if you guys don't already take it, fish oil in liquid form(2 teaspoons a day) helps reduce inflammation and aids in healing.

i rock the donjoy braces with the calf wrap.... like these but their is a better one but i am not sure what it was..... if i think of it i will let you know but i am on acl/mcl#4 in my left and acl#2 in my right and the donjoys seem to work... no knee problems when i wear them and they dont slide on your leg.
your insurance should pay for them if you get your orthopedic sergion to give you a perscription..
i have 4, 2 old and 2 new they are built to my knees though

Its lemon flavored so it isn't bad at all. Easiest way to kill pain and aid in healing(also helps lower your cholesterol).

I own a CTi2 and a Donjoy. I had surgery for my right ACL/miniscus for 4years ago.
I've worn the braces ever time I rode the 1st 2years. The last 2 years my knee is feeling much stronger so I no longer use a brace while running bouys. Still where it riding surf most of the time.
The CTi2 fits better against the skin and offers more support. The Donjoy is good over a wetsuit.

Those with pateller instabilities can't beat the Breg X2K PTO. Also, helps with ACL & PCL. They are custom, so you will have to get a doc. to sign off on them.

that's not always true.
some plans no matter what the doc writes for will only cover certain things or certain amounts of payments.
an rx these days mean nothing.
health care is corporate run
and all about making bux for one side of the equation and saving money for the other. all too often the dr and patient are not in control.

I worked out for months to get ready for the run. During the run my knee felt great and even after. Ran 10 miles in 1:26.26. I would say not bad for my first event, this is 19 years after they told me i would not be able to walk without having surgery on my knee. Still waiting for the surgery, Big Kahuna you were correct strength training was the way to go for me. Now it is time to get out the other toys for the season.
