C'mon lads, we spent so much $$$ on those lovely motors yet we hardly ever see em.
I like threads like this cos its nice to see original ideas within the engine bay for people to use when building a new project.
So c'mon show us your motor :Banane01:

CLEAN SKI!
Filter was in the stinger line as the stinger was jetted, only needs a grain of sand and i'd melt the couplers to the waterbox.

Orange flattop What kind of exhaust hose is that and were did you get it ?
orange flattop freestyler
01-30-2006, 04:04 AM
All the hosing on my ski is the "Samco" silicon race hose.
I got it all from a guy i know over here in the UK. He owns a comapny called "Goodflex", they specialise in making performance silicon hoses for race cars.

Orange you re Motor looks so nice, like the whole rest of your ski. Realy sick.
Every detail is awesome of it. Do have some engine work done?? how does that total loss ignition work??
what do you other guys say about total loss??? a need or not?? I ve heard of, having a lot of problems with them.??"§%????
Here s my old motor....
Matt_E
01-30-2006, 09:05 AM
Total loss is a nice gain...I run a dual channel digital MSD in mine, and wouldn't give it up.
That said, new it's WAAAAY to expensive, and it takes a bit to get it all working and dialed in.

I dont run the TL on my freestyle motor, i got fed up with it
When i ride im out for a long time and cant be bothered with the all round agrovation TL can be. With my engine spec i really dont think i need it either to be honest, theres more than enough power to do what i want.

What sort of hassle are you talking about?
I know that TL can indeed be a pain in the ass if something isn't running right, and God knows there are plenty of components in there that can foul up.
I am just curious as to what was aggravating you.
orange flattop freestyler
01-30-2006, 12:12 PM
MSD Brains going down, battery charging. Just general pissing about that i got fed up with. Maybe it wasnt setup properly who knows but the difference wasnt big enough for me to want to keep it.
Matt_E
01-30-2006, 12:15 PM
It was a hassle to get going and a steep learning curve...it's not an easy mod, for sure. But, now that I have it setup properly, I am happy with it.
However, if the brain ever goes out, I will not replace it. Stocker charging system and lightened FW if that happens.
orange flattop freestyler
01-30-2006, 12:21 PM
Thats what i run now matt, stock CDI with enhancer and a lightened flywheel.
The difference is minimal in my opinion
Matt_E
01-30-2006, 12:26 PM
That's debatable.
However, if I had to buy one new - 1400 Dollars :bs2: ...I just wouldn't.
But alas, I paid 375 for mine, and that was good. Sorry to hijack the thread.
I need to post bilge pics, but it looks like a huge f'n mess....like a beaver nesting in there.

Here is what can go wrong with TL
1. Brain Goes out
2. Pickups go out
3. figure out which pickup went out............ See #2
4. Bad connection (something shorting out)
5. Battery stops taking full charge.......
6. See Items 1-5.

Collecting dust/parts. Its an Able 5mm stroker, full porting by zforce, duall Jet Ski solutions stock 44's that have been totally gone through and made beautiful. Lightened flywheel, ported b-pipe (waiting for a chamber), ported intake, delta II reeds... A very good motor. The hull its going into should be done soon.
Just wait till you guys see the hull.

Hell I haven't even wiped the dust off of it in 2 months. I don't think I will ever see it running again. I actually used the ski the other day... I put my lawn mower blade across the ski and held it down with my foot while I sharpened the blades.... at least it is used for something.

Do you care to explain the cooling line routing on this a bit; I can't seem to figure it out. 3 pissers, one coming off the stinger T and two from the head? Is it dual cooling w/ 1 for engine and one for pipe or is it triple cooled (if there is such a thing)?? Also, what are those white things on your cooling lines, proportioning valves??? In the pic there is one above the chamber and two above the head pipe.
My mind can't decide whether it's jealous or confused, lol. :Eyecrazy:

looks like dual cooling with 3 pissers. and possibly a split for a seperate circuit for the pipe or it has a 3rd circuit for the pipe. really hard to say without better pictures.

My cooling setup is as follows .
1 line in going straight to the exhaust manifold
1 line teed going to the exhaust manifold and bottom of headpipe.
If 1 line gets clogged I still have cooling for my motor :smokin:.
2 lines out of head and to pissers restricted 2 make up for the 1 going in and 2 coming out .
1 line coming out of headpipe teed to TNT chamber via flow control valve and other line to pisser .
I originally did this so I could use the Blowsion backflusher which connects to 3 pissers .
As for the white things they are quick disconnects and I have them on every cooling line coming in and every pisser for ease of removal and if I need to get towed back to the boat ramp I disconnect my 2 cooling lines where they come in from the hull and connect them to each other so NO WATER GETS INTO MY NEW MOTOR .
I also have these on my fuel lines and they are so worth the money .
just a click and it's apart .Take both lines off my gas tank and connect them to each other and no leakage in your hull or in your garage from the tank .
For someone who is anal about maintenance I can take my chamber off and my tank out in 5 minutes .
I have since rerouted the cooling a bit and neatened it up so as not to touch my pretty chamber .I still have the final touches to do on my fuel lines and water lines to finalize things but I built this on the side of the Makai on Thursday before the Daytona ride so it was quick and not to thought out .i will get it perfect before my next ride
Lates pics and my backflusher .

Backflusher. The only way to flush .Whatever comes in goes back out the way it came in .3 stainless tubes go into each pisser and flush everything out the pump so if a little rock or sand is in there it goes back out the way it came in. ALSO flush with your hood on so as not to pizz off your neighbors and no extra hose fitting inside the hull .

I got the fuel line quickies from Jetworks and the water lines from LPW .The backflusher I got from Blowsion but you can make your own a lot cheaper .

thats just how the bed plates came, i have new mounts in the hull those just help keep it steady on the bar. if you look close you can tell that the bed plates are not even tight to the engine and one of the mounts is busted. they were an ebay special i wanted the mounting hardware bolts, shims and plates i think i won it for around 5-10 bux so it was worth that to me.
