I'm looking a SXR's at the moment and found a really clean 2005 model and was wondering what's the difference between that and this years model. Should I save myself a few grand and just go for the 05 or is the 2008 gonna be better.
Cheers

the only difference in any SXR's is from 03 to 04. They changed the electronics. After 2004 there has been no changes other than graphics.

The only difference is that for the 08 model, Kawi upgraded the fuel tank from 4.5 to 5 gal. If you get a good deal, you should definitely pick up that 05 sxr. I got mine last summer. It was brand new, but had been sitting at a dealer for 2 years. I stole it for $5k :deal: with factory warranty and promotional APR financing. So if possible, use that info as a benchmark to lowball the price on the one you're looking at.

Last summer I got mine (2007) for $5349 cause I found an '05 brand new from another dealer for $5249. I got the same perks with the warranty and financing.
If you buy it new check to see if the hood latches on tightly. I think a blind man that works for kawi drills the holes in the hood that mount the latch. My holes were about 3mm lower than my buddies - his hood fits just fine and mine fell off EVERY time I subbed until I put hoodstraps on. Maybe you could use that as leverage to save you a hundred bucks or so from a dealer?
good luck
