View Full Version : FX-1 hood...Refined

For the last couple of years, I've been thinking about a simpler hood/retention system for my FX. Having sunk my boat a couple times because of the cheezy factory latch, it's past time. The paint was still drying when I tested it at Daytona, and all worked out as planned. It took a little getting used to(the strap) but it's real strong. The cam-over latch pulls from a center point, and equally displaces the load to the front and back attach points.
The weakest part of the system is rated at 500+ lbs useful working load (usually ratings are 50% of the breaking point). I think it's a LOT stronger than factory.
The hood w/retention system=7lbs (using the factory air inlet tubes). I left the factory latch locations in place just in case things didn't work out...right.

Thanks guys, I had to do something quick before Daytona's ride. It is my scabbed together test boat.
Exotic Graphics was the easy way out for the color. You know a '94 vintage ski is considered to be "old school" now.
I have some new things I'd like to test real soon. :skull2::shhh::skull2:.

I am out in San Diego CA, and one of our issues is the fire extinguishers, we get checked all the time, or at least I do. Is it required to have a fire extinguisher out where you live?

i live in ca. also and have only been checked once and i ride many different places. they he told me i needed to have a whistle on my lifevest so i proceeded to show them that my mouth came with a whistle:cool: . so now i bring a fire ext. with me but i dont actually keep it on my ski. i use that compartment for more important stuff, like a tow rope or a 40oz.
