I just called the campground and talked to Spike(the dude that works there...) he said the water is comming up really good there so THE RIDE IS ON. May 17-18, Spike said reserve sites now, he will need name, address, number of people, reg. number on ski. He has 30 or so tent sites on the water I think he said. Also camper sites. The info is

Wildlife Woods Campground
4582 Beaver Blvd.
Catawba, NC 28673
704-483-5611-ask for Spike

PM me for any questions or info, or call me Billy 704 634-0686 cell.

All is welcome!!!!

i searched google and didn't really see any thing.

It must not be that big, when I put in Wildlife woods campground it goes to a travel search and it comes up with address and number. Its not the best campground, but what we need it for its great.

I misunderstood spike when I talked to him. They DO NOT reserve tent camp sites, only camper sites. He's holding all the tent sites for us on the 17-18. All campers can reserve for that weeked.

There are 30 tent sites along the water, anyone who thinks they will tent camp I need you name, address, phone #, reg. number on ski. Its $20 for a night, I'm not shure how many people to a site yet. Here is a crappy pic of the campground map.

Either PM me or give me a call, 704-634-0686 c 704-662-3324 CS

Yea we deff thought about it, but still not shure on how big the ride will be. Griff I think is trying to get something from red bull, not shure what yet:fing02:
I just want to get people together to ride, maybe if its a big hit, next year we can blow it out with sponsors and so on.

Who else can we get involved easily? And what can they do for the ride? Like I said, I just wanted to organize a ride simply, but if anyone knows a way to get more sponsors, by all means let me know, I just have a few things going on don't have the time to get really deap in the ride. Maybe a dinner Saturday night of some sort? Lets keep the ideas comming.

question for all you local guys, how big exactly is norman? ive got a friend that is offering to let me and ags0702 stay at his house there and i kinda need an idea if it would be better to stay there or at the camp ground. im not exactly sure where his house is located but if the lake is huge odds are his house may not be close by

DAG

Lake Norman is the largest body of fresh water in North Carolina.

* 34 miles long and eight miles across at its widest point (twice the size of the Sea of Gallilee)
* 520 miles of shoreline (more than the coasts of both North and South Carolina)
* 32,510 surface acres of water
* 130 feet deep at its deepest point; average depth is 33 feet
* Holds 3.4 trillion gallons of water, weighing approximately 14.2 billion tons
* Four counties border Lake Norman: Catawba, Iredell, Lincoln and Mecklenburg

So did everyone at the ride get kicked off the lake?!? What the hell?
One guy was video taping as we were riding and calling the cops all day. A cop finally came and said everyone out of the water or he would start writing tickets. The cop was cool about it and I don't think he liked the guy anymore than we did. He was just doing his job. Sucked for the people that drove far and spent the weekend.

Big Kahuna
05-19-2008, 12:36 PM

Big Kahuna
05-19-2008, 01:04 PM
He has to actually catch you doing something illegal to give you a ticket. Yes, he can make your life hell but checking everybody for every little thing.... But he cannot tell you to leave. It does suck. We ran into this when planning the SFF, we wanted to go back to lanier, but they said they would ticket for anything.......... we chose to move somewhere else instead....

Agreed, but you had to have been there...the entire area was no wake, no joke. It had to have been, I dunno 2 or 3miles before you got to open area, seemed like forever and set of fouled plugs later. It was a nice place to have the event otherwise, I really give BROSS a ton of props for his hard work.

All in all it wasn't bad, besides the campground being a little red and the locals giving grief. Oh yea, and my ski running for 15 min. (leaking base gasket :( ).
