Keep in mind that the standard rebuild kit typically does not contain a new needle & seat.
You will need those for a proper rebuild.

do you ride is salt water ???
also, there's a tiny fuel filter that's almost allways got some crap in it.
i think it's on the fuel pump side.
if you are having issue's with your carb, just take the whole thing apart and clean everything, then put it back together and check the pop-off pressure.
8 out of 10 times there's some crap inside !!!

NO i'm not really having problems, it's just that when I bought the fx-1 it had been sitting since 1998. So I figure ten years passed the carb ought to be rebuilt

just take that carb apart and make sure there's nothing stuck inside, and you should be good to get wet when you put it back together.
check the reed petals too !!!
the top + bottom intake manifold gasket should only be around $10 -15 ???
