Yup!
Turns a blaster into an unmanned missle when you fall off and the throttle sticks. Does a little more damage on impact because ski is a little bigger.

do not do that.... you are asking for a police situation

if you plan on going that route, just wrap your existing lanyard around the bars. That way if you get pulled over, the water cop will not ticket you. You can say you just wrapped it around there when he came up to you.....

My friends zip tie their SJ's for surf riding because the police do not go into big surf areas...anyone try it on their blaster ?

The blaster stop/start switch is the exact same as the SJ, so it would work the exact same.

Only difference, like was pointed out in the first responce, would be that the unguided missle would be larger in the case of the Blaster.

I'm planning on ditching my JSS and going back to OEM. I'll just wrap it around the bars when need be.

Anyone ever try any other OEM's? I forget. Like maybe Kawi or a different Yamaha?

I understand that, but it's still a huge liability and you can be ticketed for operating a ski w/ blatent disregard for safety. Cops see that and assume you do not care about others on the water. It's just a bad idea. I assume you are exiting through an inlet to get out to the break... Inlets are prime spots for water cops.. Here cops look for that kind of stuff...

Wrap your lanyard around the bars like we recomended.

i will never zip tie my lanyard after seeing a ski become a missile this summer.

missing a few other riders with high dollar boats and nearly hitting some boats anchored up with kids in rafts behind them.

it took 3 guys chasing the ski one guy tried jumping on it the other 2 guys ended up hitting it off course of some big boats anchored up and finally ending up plowing into shore.

after seeing how many people who could have gotten hurt and lawsuits that crap ain't worth it.

What's the advantage of not using a lanyard? when u wreck ski keeps running and circles u for quick mount and go again...less use of starter/battery...no tug of lanyard on your wrist or vest when u are in the water near it but stretching it...feeling liberty from it !!

No, they do not. Straight line until it runs out of gas or hits a solid object. Not using a lanyard makes no sense to me. The old Kawis did not run lanyards, but they circled (usually). A Blaster will not do this. "Liberty" from a lanyard? Plain dangerous and pointless. If you fall far away from your ski, you'll be doing a lot of swimming to catch it. Hope you are a strong swimmer.

They should all circle, unless it's got quite a bit of throttle to straighten out the nozzle and the hull.

That said, just wrap the lanyard around the bars.

I have a WB1, and unless I pull it on it's side when I bail, it'll shoot straight ahead, I would hate to think what would happen if I disabled the kill switch.

If you're that worried about having freedom, get a lanyard that clips in to your life jacket, because you're not going to be moving the bars like you would on a standup, this won't get in the way on 99% of the tricks you might want to pull.

You're right. Unless you have a problem with your steering almost all will (eventually) circle. Still not a real good reason not to run a lanyard. There are a few guys regularly doing tricks where the lanyard would be a problem, but most of us are just fine using one. Before it's over, we're gonna finally hear about a boat getting away from someone and seriously injuring or killing someone. It won't be quite as cool not to use one after that. It's just asking for it. There have already been several near misses and damaged boat stuck throttle stories here in just the last year or so. About the only place I can see any real justification for ditching it is in serious surf and there probably won't be anyone to hurt with your boat there. Pretty irresponsible on waterways where there are other people. What's is funny is when the lawsuit happens the plaintiff's attorney will use these threads to help nail your ass.:bigok:

Yup, no lanyard = irresponsible = asking for a lawsuit = not a good idea. Unless you are a pro freestyle rider doing a competition routine you need a lanyard. I know some peeps that do not run one and I seen their skis get away from them. Just waiting for runaway ski missle. Hope I don't ever see it happen. Not worth it IMO, I always run one.

did a test yesterday.....had a friend 30 feet away to grab ski if it went straight by itself....it went straight with a high idle.... but circled with a slower idle fine...
