Here is my first edit of the SFF section of my next movie. I have allready changed this alot, but I wanted to give you guys a taste of what I am up to. The quality is much higher on DVD! The whole movie, "JET TARDS IV: EASTSIDE FREERIDE" will be done in February! Crank it up and give me a little feedback! The whole movie should be about an hour.

I could just send you a link to a zip file but here is something better. There is a Firefox add-on called Download helper:
Download Help web page (http://www.downloadhelper.net/)

It adds an icon between the address box and the search box at the top. When you start playing a video the icon starts moving and you click the down arrow next to it to save the video to your computer. It doesn't work with every video site but is regularly updated and does a heck of a lot of them.

You know how YouTube videos get pulled after you see them and a friend you send it to doesn't see it? Save that cool vid and no more of that!

You will also need an FLV movie player. One is included in Riva FLV encoder:

That was great to watch I'm going to work on my ski tomorrow! The injured rider is Scott one of the radest SXR-riders St. L. crew has to offer, he spent the morning tearing down his engine to find a pick up screw wedged beneath his fly wheel. Then E.R bound to get stitched.

You should be doing a little better than 12 hours work for 5 minutes of results. I've heard you talking about computer woes so that could be a big factor. Having a happy computer to edit on makes a big difference.

It's editing GREAT. The computer is ripping and is moving as fast as I can click. I am just a perfectionist. I watch it like 100 times to make sure that I am happy with it. Basically I am taking an hour or two of video and cutting out 55 minutes of crap. Then I keep changing the order, trying different songs, adding effects, making clips shorter or longer, or adding slow or fast motion until I am happy.

This is my last full movie... so I am taking my time and making it good. I am REALLY happy with it so far. I think the SouthernFried section that I posted is the worst part (I changed that one a little too!)

1/24/08 UPDATE! :highhorse:

DAYTONA 2008 Section is done. This is my crowning achievement. The best footage I have ever captured on film. It came out pretty badass. It will be a great ending to the MOVIE!

Virginia Beach/Wave Daze Section is done. It is short, but sweet. My camera died 1/2 way through the first day! I do have great footage, but not a ton of it!

A way to test for bad clips:
When you are ready to go to sleep set up a playlist in Windows media player. Just drag all the clips into the playlist on the right. Save the playlist. Hit the play button and hit the sack. If there is a bad clip WMP hopefully will come up with an error playing it and the bad clip will be highlighted in the playlist.

To find more bad clips open the saved playlist then clean out all the clips before and including the bad one. Then hit play to work your way down the playlist.

:scratchchin: That would work, except I only had 3 clips and they were each about an hour long. I am pretty sure that I rewound a small section of the tape while I was importing. That always causes a bad clip.

Basically, I just imported it into the computer one whole tape at a time. When I started the 3rd tape, I realized it was allready about 45 seconds into it and hit rewind while it was still importing. Well, that final tape had no sound to it, so I am guessing that is it.

Pinnacle cuts it up into every scene change automatically, but you can't play that through WMP, only the Pinnacle Editor until after you render it (It won't render, is the problem). The whole section plays fine through Pinnacle...I am going to save the project to a disc and see if my brothers computer will render it with a different version of pinnacle.

Computer is running GREAT!!! I was able to re-finish the Daytona 08 section and the End of the movie. I am glad it crashed. It came out even better the 2nd time!!! (BEST THING I EVER MADE!!!) STOKED :booty:

I agree. I never delete raw footage. hard drives are cheap. the raw footage you lose is pricless

Thanks Chris! I can always reload it onto the computer...The Original Raw footage is all on Hi-8 tape and stored for safe keeping. This is just the unedited versions that were put on the computer....I can always reload it onto the computer.

Thanks Chris! I can always reload it onto the computer...The Original Raw footage is all on Hi-8 tape and stored for safe keeping. This is just the unedited versions that were put on the computer....I can always reload it onto the computer.

Good for you! Sounds like a killer year. I am laying off the travel this year. I hit 7 Jetski freerides and had about 8 Snow Ski trips this year. No more $$$$....plus, I gotta take a break! Don't send an AVI. They are just too huge. Send the FLV like the last time. Use RIVA FLV encoder.

3/31/08 Update:

Jeff got the format switched over from AVI to DVD. The movie ended up being 56 minutes long (I thought 58 for some reason). He said it is much clearer than part III :woot:. The movie has a total of 1,293 Clips.

Only two people have viewed the whole thing put together (I havent yet!!!) The first said that it was very fast paced, loud, and crazy (He is a motocrosser!). The other said that it felt like he was in my shoes, seeing my view of all the freerides. BTW...it looks like they may ship a little earlier than the 20th!! :naughty:

Post Production update 4/11/08:

Jeff has successfully gotten the movie in the correct format and designed the DVD labels using a bunch of Ronnies pics. I have plenty of good copies of the movie...I can't seem to make it with the title page. (Pinnacle keeps crashing every time I try "burning failed!") So, as of right now, the movies just drop in and start playing. I have tried them on 4 different DVD players and 2 computers. (So far they have played on everything!!!):arms:

I still have to get the covers printed and the decals for the dvds. :sneaky: I printed a cover and put it into a case. It looks pimp...Ronny is a designing god. He also pimped all the graphics in the movie.
