anyone reiforceing? ive got stress cracks on the side, i assume its from barrel roll attemps. im going to reinforce this winter just want to know if theres anything special i need to know.

well, do lots of research. Thats basically it. Have you worked with epoxy and fiberglass before?

one thing that may or may not be an issue for you that was for me that I never heard about before is that on the old sj when I filled the bond line to make it a smoother transition before layup, I didn't take into account the thickness of the hull and had to grind down all my hard work to get the pissers to go back in. same applies to the bilge. also the b-pipe was a tight fit before and now its damn near impossible to install.

you may not have those issues but just be aware of fittings and if stuff is close to rubbing it will be once you add a layer or two.

also since the sxr is heavy use helium infused resin to make it lighter :stooges:

if you are talking about the sxr in your avatar then i would not worry about it. I know several riders with sxr's that have stress cracks in the gel coat... but that's it, just in the gel coat. the hull is so thick and heavy duty it does not need reinforcing IMHO.

That is disgusting that a stock SXR hull is 150lbs, and it still needs reinforcing.... hopefully it is just the gel.

I doubt you'll ever break your sxr hull....that is just Kawi Gel coat. Mine cracked all over too. I ground it out and patched it...it wasn't deep at all and did not go into the glass AT ALL.

That hull is stronger than a reinforced SJ anyday.
