You are going to get a lot of different feedback on bilges pumps for different ride styles, scuppers, duck bills, auto setups, dash switches, handlebar switches, flat water, surf, leaves it in the water, beaches it, etc, etc.
But on topic, I have dual 500 Rules. One auto one always runs with the switch on the handlebars. It's ok but I would probably run one Rule 1000 manual on the dash next time. Mines fine but the more stuff you have, the more there is to go wrong.

The 800 & 1000 gph pumps are more prone to air locking, most here will tell you that dual 360 or 500 pumps are better. Quite a few people like the Attwood pumps because they are supposed to be less prone to air lock. I personally run dual 500 Rules that are wired for either one on auto or both on full time. I like the Rule because of the small footprint. Thats my .02

I've got one 1100 Rulemate Automatic Floatswitch bilge. I will NEVER get anything else. I just bungeed it down where the tool kit goes. NEVER had one problem with it. It kicks on hard right when water gets in there and drains until it is gone. 500's suck azz.

No they dont. Mine has never locked once in 7 years.

I have a Blowsion single bracket with a Rule 500. No problem at all. I have a handlebar mounted switch, and I also have it supplemented with a Versiplug out the back for additional drainage. Very easy install, clean looking and secure, and my compartment is always bone dry after riding- subbing, fountains, jumping, etc.
I also have the Blowsion block-off plate for the hood-that helps keep water out too.
Really, all you need is the 500. Nothing wrong with the 1100 either, but I like to have a switch for on demand use as opposed to the fully automatics.

allright sweet guys think im gunna go with the dual rule 500's because i dont wanna go the scupper route, too expensive/prone to leaking it seems and bigger is allways better imo.

I'd suggest looking into Versiplug as a cheap and less intrusive method over a scupper.

versiplug it is calling them guys up tommorow and ordering one way better than going through all the work to put in a leaky scupper.then with that i would have to say to run just one bilge:woot::woot:

If you use Versiplug, just make sure you keep the inside of your ski free of debris (loosened bolts, pieces of zip tie, etc.). If one of those things works its way into the plug, it'll stick it open and flood out the ski if it's just sitting. So far I have been running it for a month with ZERO issues. I love that thing.

I have a Rule 500, for some reason this thing has been giving me major problems lately. It's not even a season old. It air locks really bad or something. I'll turn it on and nothing will come out for a while sometimes. I sometimes will ride for about a minute THEN it will finally kick on. Very annoying when waiting to do another trick....

Do not use the rule 500 they suck azz .
You can get the Attwood 500 at walmart for $10 each and 2 will fit right under the drive shaft .
I've gone through 4 pumps in the last 3 years and all were rules until I switched to Attwoods .:Banane09:

does the 1100 rule have 1 inch line or is it 3/4?????
djkorn1
11-25-2007, 11:22 PM
It's a bigger line. Don't get the regular 1100. Get the Rulemate1100. It eliminates the need for a switch. It has a float switch inside of it (small pingpong ball).

That is a killer bilge. I used it on my SXIPRO. Just put it behind the battery with a little turf under it and zip tie it to a hose. It won't go anywhere and you'll never think about a bilge again. Plus, no stupid switch needed. :woot:

You don't need a bilge at all. Duckbill and a Blowsion hood air intake block off is all you need to make your SXR bulletproof. I take it to the bottom all day and never build up water in the hull.
http://www.blowsion.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=03-04-001
The plate still allows plenty of airflow for a stock/limited boat. If you have a fire-breather, the block off kit has instructions on how to easily modify the back of your hood for extra air intake

Duckbills are far from bulletproof. They dry out, crack, leak even if you have the tiniest peice of debris in them(sand, for instance) and only work while you are moving. I'd run a bilge as a back up for sure. $10.00 Atwood 500GPH, a hose, an outlet and a switch, cheap insurance, 10 minutes to install.

I imagine duckbills are succeptible to dry rot, etc. if you leave your ski out in the sun all the time. I store mine indoors when not in use, and I have yet to have a problem with it. I'm not saying having a bilge is BAD, but the duckbill is cheap and easily replaceable, and you can get billet mounting hardware for it. Let me clarify: duckbill by itself is not bulletproof, but when used in conjunction with the blockoff plate, it's a very solid setup. You don't need to pump out 500 or 1000gph when there's hardly any water in the hull to begin with.

where do you run the piping from the bilge to out of the hull? I can't find a bilge in my engine compartment or a hole in the outer hull where a hose would come out for a bilge system.

Just drill a hole through the side of the bilge. Install a feed through and silicon in. Just make sure that it is above the waterline when sitting.
