I'm doin up an x2 with a 750 small pin (well maybe big pin) single carb stock motor, with 750 elec. I was wondering if you have some pictures I can look at, or if you guys could just tell me whats what....
Throttle cable? Whats the best way around this?
750 ebox rigging? Where should I slap it? I have the caged steering, so that takes up some real estate on the back wall there, so the gastank maybe the only place to "mount" it... I have no idea how to hold it there other than ducktape and straps. Anyone got pictures or care to tell me a bit more about how to do it?
And last question, how bad do you think it will suck to run a stock 650 pipe until a FP or other can be bought?

All 750s that use 750 elec I have seen installed it vertically where the oil injection tank was removed on the gas tnak.
**I ran a stock 650 pipe for a while before I got my FP on. It was not horrible, but I bored the headpipe and exhaust manifold before I installed it.

The big pin came out in 1995. If you don't know where the engine came from, use the VIN on the block to find out what the engine is from.

Was the big pin 12bolts and small pin 10 bolts on the intake?
How did you bore the manifold and head pipe? I can't even think of trying to get around those curves... some type of hone or something?
What are you guys all running for throttle setups?

Correct on the bolts, he was talking about boring it only on top where it meets the head pipe, and port match at the block.
heres our 750 x2.
-sj b mod pipe
-sj tank
-750ss box (made my own stainless mounting brackets)
-relocated battery
-holy christ this thing is WAY more fun now!

I will test ride it and verify your findings in January at Daytona, tickets purchased.
My brother and I will definatly need some SJ time as well, my boat won't fit in my suitcase.

Nice guys!
What cable are you guys running for the throttle? I don't have the bottom bracket for the cable that must have been used on the 750.
And for that matter, what cable are you using for your trim if your running a hand trim?

SX cable, custom bracket.

I took everything out of the 750 electric box and mounted it to a lexan plate behind the battery. Was going to find a nioce spot to mount the coil but never got around to it so I zip tied it to the battery strap. I used a MSD started relay. Not sure how waterproof the stocker is. A little mickey mouse but I think it looks a little cleaner than strapping the box to the gas tank.
You are going to like everything exept the F/A's when they suck water, looking good.

Here is mine. Stock 750 electronics....which came with a tach, so i can just plug that in..NICE! I made a bracket from the origional 750 bracket and used the stock x2 throttle cable.

X2 on that Crab. The hot products FA has been sucking water bad on my brothers ski (everytime we take it out in the surf). Going to slap a SJ arrestor on asap.

I have a lot of nice looking stuff on the shelf, but their not going back on any X2 I build to ride in surf, they might make great paperweights.:Banane26: I just need to figure out where I want the primer on the outside of the hull.

I did run the outerwares all season. I thought these f/a's were the reason for the pistons breaking up on me early on but it ended up being detonation. Believe it or not I really had no issues with water. My hood mod worked really well to keep the water out. Mind you I still don't trust these tau ceti's. I will be changing them out for some effective stock setup.
i used the stock x2 throttle cable with a hot products (i think) mikuni top-pull bracket. it bolts to the 2, otherwise useless, holes just under the f/a on the carb. That works good on a single carb setup with the ADA multi position throttle wheel.

My experience was that it wasn't the hood that was the problem, as much as any water left in the hull and getting rolled in the surf about 2-3 times before gaining control with the motor running.
or just flip the half-moon around.:moon:
A buddy tried that on his 44, and got lousy throttle action, the wheel fixed his trouble.:highhorse:
i had one of those throttle wheels on the x2 when it had the 650. that engine/carb went into the jetmate. on the 750's carb, i flipped the piece around and the throttle response is the same as it would normally be. sometimes you have to tweak the brackets to align properly.
and now, the jetmate has a blingy throttle wheel!!!
Sweet, btw the ADA version is only about $14.

Well not that I don't want to switch over to a Mik 44/46+, but what can I do about the stocker carb? Just make due?
And I was thinking about that SX throttle cable, what do you do with all the extra cable? is there a nice place to tuck it, or just any place a zip-tie will hold it?
If its the stock 750 single carb thats bottom pull, run it fwd over the gas tank then down the side of the hull. The SX bracket mounts right to the motor mount bolt on the bedplate.

I have that bracket on my brothers x2, but I am afraid of cracking the mount to remove it..... But I would go with a 46SBN instead, the stock carb ran like crap on my small pin 750. I replaced it after the first day and its was a BIG performance gain. Definetly worth the $$$ and effort.

Oh yeah, another quick question. On the stock 750 ebox (I believe its stock) its got what looks like a solenoid and two water lines that connect to it... Is this water injection for the pipe, or just a temp sensor? Because it would be kick ass if it was water injection... (well maybe not... but what the hell is it?)

It's an over heat sensor. You don't need to hook it up.
