How do I remove the handpole spring from my 96' Sxi without hurting my self and keep it from flying across the room. Whats the trick? The handpole and bracket are already removed just need to do some painting and replace the bushings. Thanks in advance for any help.

It really isnt that bad. It doesnt shoot out like you think it will. You take the four bolts out from the underside that holds the pole mount, lift that up. Then take the nut off of the big bolt that goes through the spring. After that unscrew the big bolt and then pull the bolt out. You may need two people for this. After that you just wrestle the pole and all the line/wires that route up through the pole.
