Yesterday, I went into a pawn shop for the first time as I had some spare time at lunch......I was looking at their used firearms..

Down here in the panhandle, (armpit) of Florida Pawn shops are as available as cheap toothless ho's.....
I get a kick out of the shops, can't believe some of the junk they pawn off as gold...
Found an SKS in the case, bunch of clips and ammo, red dot, guy pawns this thing to support his habit weekly from what the owner of the shop told me...It's a piece of crap, I'll get my bro in the service to hook me up for Armageden before I buy that jewel......

when I was a teenager, I bought everything in pawn shops.
Now , in NW arkansas, the pawn shops price stuff $5 higher than new, and wont cut a deal for shiet.
I never go in them anymore.

I've got a couple nice guitars over the years for next to nothing and a killer deal on a mountain bike once. But I've also seen a TON of crap I wouldn't give you a nickel for.

i usually rumage through the hand tools and sockets. one place i go to has bins of sockets. i dig and get craftsman or any other life time replacement tools and when i find cracked sockets the old guy just gives them to me and most of them are life time replacement. i take them to sears and trade them for new. my riding buddy use to be a manager at a pawn shop and he would get me some good deals.

Same for every pawn shop I have ever ben in! Which was like 3 times btw
We once went to one because a friend wanted to buy his mom a record player. Where ales besides eBay are you going ot get a record player now?
Anyways they had a computer that had a tape drive (this just shows it age). They wanted I believe 1000 for it and this was 5 years ago! WTF?
A funny story about our local shop was they were expanding and just built a new shop. Then they opened two other shops inthe two neighboring towns. A few months/years? later they are on the news for being busted for drugs and taxes crap. They even had cars there. NOT ANYMORE!!! :) lol Lost most everything.

here in tx the pawn shops have to enter all seriel numbers into a computer system that goes to the police station. they bump it against their stolen items data base and if any seriel numbers match they go pick up the item and the ticket then go pick up the perp.
just something to do when I have free time at lunch...
im sure there are deals to be had, but there is also 10x as much junk.....

He even had old Trojans from WW2 stashed....

The local pawn shop here has $1 vhs movies, which is cheaper than renting anywhere locally.
I bought a Ruger Blackhawk .357 for $200 there and a Sata NR2000 paint gun for 159. They sell cheapo sockets for a dime too. Some or thier prices are high, but if you have cash they'll usually cut a good deal.

In 1999, I was killing time before a meeting and walked into local shop.
They had a big sign up that gold was selling for $285 an ounce, so I bought one.
Gold is now about $750 an ounce, so I guess I did OK:arms:

i had a bike my cousin borrowed, he said it was stolen and before the ticket ran out he gave me the ticket. the owner of the pawn shop did not want to give the bike up, but when the cops got there he was nice as could be and acted like he did not have a problem with giving it up. needless to say i got the bike back.

I walk into a pawn shop once and see a 650 sx in mint condition with a sign best offer, and before I open my mouth the guy tell's me that they have to get it out to comply with code regarding fuel inside the building so I'm looking at the ski and like I say it is mint and started right up, the ticket for the price say $800 so I offered $400 and the guy say deal and then told me that I have to go around back to get the trailer and other stuff that came with. Jacket, 2 tubes, a beach dolly, kneeboard rope and 2 gal of Yam lub. that was a deal.

I had a former employee steal about $600 worth of power tools and sell them at a local Pawn Shop. When I found out where he took the tools, I went down there after the cops said it was OK and I had to buy my tools back for what he was paid for them!
All of these tools were engraved in two spots---one highly visible and one hidden, and these idiots at the Pawn Shop give him $70 for them anyway. I was informed by the police and the pawn shop manager that this was all in accordanance with Florida laws, which protects the pawn shop and screws the rightful owners of the property.
I have purchased quite a few things in the past from Pawn Shops, but not in a few years. It used to be you could get deals, but it doesn't seem so anymore.
