Is it me or is the concept of a swimsuit model for advertising and calendars outdated and stupid?
I was looking at Steph's post HERE (http://www.pwctoday.com/showthread.php?t=143404) and was a bit lost on the entire point of a model for watercraft parts. It's a refurbished impeller, do we need some clothed blond with big boobs holding it? How 'bout you just show me the impeller and I'll go check out real porn later.

I work in advertising and can tell you this - even though the girls have nothing to do with PWC parts, they appeal to the target market and get attention. For example, if I were SBT and placing an ad on the X, targeted toward a lot of the X members, I would feature a pimped out Super Jet. That resonates with you guys. However, targeting males between 18-35 (totally guessing that they may be SBT's target demographic) scantily clad girls are a decent way to attract them.
Oh yeah, case in point, look at the response this thread got and look at all the swimsuit/bikini threads over there and the attention they get!

The point of using the girls in their ads isn't to give guys a place to go find nice looking girls - it's just a way to get their brand (SBT) associated with something men really like.
I can honestly say that I only go to Hooters for the wings. My fiancee doesn't believe me, but oh well. :banghead:

I dated a girl who was "Miss Petite North Carolina" and runner-up "Miss Tennessee" (she was from Texas, but in the Miss U.S.A. system if you can establish an address in another state, ie a relative's address, you can compete in that state), and although she was a very attractive girl, there was a significant difference between onstage and offstage.
Funny story... I had a roomate at the time, and one of his best friends was actually my girlfriend's ex, but no one had connected the dots. For about 3 months, when she was there, he wasn't and visa versa, well, one day they were there at the same time. A little funny, but mainly awkward. It was a Saturday morning, and he just came in and she just came downstairs in one of my t-shirts.

I will admit Playboy is a lot more tasteful that those others....but I still don't see how it is still so popular?!?! It's the same look almost every time--bleach blond hair....massive fake boobs. We had a friend that dated a chick that was in Playboy (she was actually away from the "norm"...from Hawaii) and she didn't look anything like what was in the magazine....they airbrushed her so much it wasn't even funny. Don't get me wrong...she was still a very attractive girl...just wasn't "her" in the magazine. When our friend introduced us I couldn't help but stare at her chest...because what she had...had been inflated 10 times in the magazine. :cool2:

I have a subscription to Playboy that someone else bought me for Christmas. I wouldn't spend my money on it because internet porn is pretty much free. There are enough teaser sites out there to occupy your time. I would never spend money on it either.
But my post at the top page still stands. I have that July issue too, they photoshopped her big time for that magazine! There isn't a feckle or mole one on her in that mag. That isn't the case in the SBT pics.
Just go to any college campus here in the US. You will see 100's or 1000's of hot girls everywhere you go. When I was at WVU there were planty of beautiful girls. Then I moved here to PA near Penn State and oh my there are ten times as many! Difference in enrollment at WVU 27,000 to PSU 42,000.
I do agree though I don't need a hot girl to make me buy jet ski parts. Now if I had a hot girl that would buy jet ski parts for me.... well that my friends would be a gold mine!
