I'm ordering some gaskets and things from a shop that is a Lynn Vick Products distributer and I was looking through their catalog at drive shaft bearing housing oil seal sets and for X2's it doesn't list anything pre-89, were there changes to the drive shaft bearing housing or will this set work on my 88?

I believe all the 650 and 750 bearing housings are the same. The only difference in the X2 is that at a point in the 90's they went to a heavier diameter driveshaft, but the diameter of the shaft at the support point was not changed. You should be good with your pre 89.

You can get a whole bearing and seal kit for around 30 bucks.
