I am building a deck and I am trying to decide if I should use cedar or a composite deck board like Trex. I want as close to zero maintenance as possible. Cedar is about 1/4 the price of composite where I live. If I use cedar I want to leave it natural, staining every year sucks.

only problem with synthetic is that it hard to ever recover the cost of it.

but it looks awesome!

The big thing with composite materials is that they fade and are hot on bare feet, there is one material that doesnt fade and its local company where i live which is a solid plastic material with UV inhibitors in it, and im sure there are others but Trex does fade and so do many of the commonly available composites. But if you can deal with the fading a composite material is the way to go and Trex is a good looking board.
