View Full Version : 5.1 SPEAKER SYSTEM, for PC
My dell speakers are blown :02:
Whats the best "bang for the buck" for a nice 5.1 or 6.1 system for a PC?
any brands or models that totally suck or kick ass?
Looking for people with personal experiences, of a system they really liked. but not looking for the top of the line best of the best. just a good deal on a averaged or maby just above average system.

I just don't get 5.1 for a PC.
Do you have a room dedicated to your PC like a home theater room? If not, where do you put the rears?
The only time I really play computer games (which is rare) is when it's multiplayer with others in the same room, so I guess that's why I've never been interested in 5.1 for my PC.
Out of curiosity, why don't you just hook your pc into your LCD or Plasma and user your home theatre surround? That's something I'm actually planning to do.

Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.1 setup - I have 2 spares if you would like one, but they both have the infamous problem where the power board overheated, I believe for $60 you can get a new one from Indigo, it was a faulty design. I have had quite a few parties with close to 80 people, and the Klipsch has held up and pounded out tunes non stop for a few years now!

I love Klipsch - I have some towers and center channel for my "home theater". Who the hell uses the TV speaker anyway?
Never got around to running the cable for the rears, though this winter sounds like the time to do so since I finally ordered the wall mounts.

For my home surround, I have Klipsh for my front, B&M for my rears and Velodyne for my center and powered sub.

have you heard the mac satellite speakers and sub, not too bad fills a room pretty decent. I just got some from a friend that were old boston acoustics but has a 9 inch sub instead of the smaller 6 i think the mac is, thats all i need to get a room bumpin.

I have some 5 year old Koss SX-50 that cost like $150 they still sound absolutely awesome. Only 2 front but that's fine for me for the PC. If I want more sound I just enable my slitter and run them to my receiver in the living room.
And yes, I do have a dedicated room to my computers/office but what's the point of 5.1 6.1 etc if all you do is listen to music on your PC? You don't need surround sound for that!
Once I get my other receiver hooked up I'll have 2.1 + 2 rear... let me play music throughout the other areas of the house with my 1 receiver. I then run another output from my PC to my living room receiver and can play the same music, and another output to my garage receiver and then I've got 10+ speakers on the same music... not that i'd run them all at once but I could and have at my old house for parties :Banane01:
