This was mentioned in the IFWA Pismo Comp thread already, but I have been wanting to post a thread on what we plan to do down there so people have an idea of what we are trying to accomplish.
Our goal is to produce a DVD that is very entertaining and brings the event into your home, but also introduces the world to a guy named Joe Kenney and illustrates how much of an impact he has had on us, our sport and our lifestyle. 100% of the profits will go to his medical fund.
The interviews will be just as important as the backflips. I want to talk to as many people as possible to get their Joe stories on tape.
I have a small group of people that have dedicated their weekend to this project and have volunteered to experience the entire event through a viewfinder. Our goal is to gather as much footage of the competition as possible. If you are competing there will be at least 3 cameras on you as soon as you hit the water. I'd also like to throw a couple of helmet cams on any riders that are willing. Since the entire DVD will be focused on a single event we need a ton of footage, good footage to make this thing sing.
In the end I know we will have something that everyone will enjoy and be proud of, a means of creating revenue to help pay medical bills, and most importantly, a message to our friend letting him know we are here for him, and that he still means the world to us.
Sooo stoked about this project.

Awesome idea. I only met Joe once but he was definitely a great guy. What would you do for funding the project?

hit up Nascency Chris.. he got lots of footage/interviews from the J/K flip off we held in Daytona... maybe you guys can work something out.. would be awesome to put that in there.. i know i was all giddy jibber jabbering about JK that day.. :smile:

D....I was able to duck water rescue duties for the event I think, and am in the process of lining up a camera ski to shoot from. I've done some camera boat operation at Mav's and am looking forward to helping you guys get some awesome shots that weekend!

I put copies of the video I've shot the last three years at the Blowsion event in the mail today. That fills in some gaps in Daylite's inventory.
It's for Joe so it's all good!

4 cameras running at least 12 hours a day for 3 days straight. thats just under 150 hrs of raw footage. good luck goin through all that.
daylite, it was cool getting to hang with you a little in pismo. sorry if mike and i damaged your fancy pantsy fuzzy mic in the tackling incident during my interview. shiot happens when you get a few drinks in the oside guys...

Hmmmm...that's pretty funny - considering the pictures I was just looking at last night from Pismo...
Friday Night = We took care of Jerry/Jetskier79 when he had a wee bit too much to imbibe.
Saturday Night = we started to take care of Jerry and remove him from a bad situation with some local dirt bags....about a half hour later....Jerry was being the "responsible one" and was draggin' ME away from a nasty situation with the ex...LOL!
I got everything I need to say to the asshat off my chest, and you walked me away just in the nic of time (before I kicked him right square in the baby-maker)...Thanks Jer....I owe ya big hon!
