These are a couple of round noses I finished a couple of months ago. Their owner originally wanted them to have the same paint job, I talked him into letting me do something that wasn't identical, but still make them look like they belong to each other.
These done with Auto Air, the green and orange are actually REALLY bright when the sun hits them (sparklescent green and mango), unfortunately it was a VERY over cast day so they just don't pop out in the picutures.
I was waiting for him to post pictures of them first because mine are so drab due to the lack of direct sunshine. But Crab's last post on my squarenose thread made me decide to just throw them out.

I have definitely been keeping busy.
Wait until you see Pierre's helmet, I am really happy with how it is turning out.
As soon as that's done I have a HUGE project that will keep me busy throughout the winter. I'll post a thread on that in the next few days.

DayliteI hope you didn't mind, they are just too cool to be kept secret in Kevins garage where nobody ever see's them, I'm just glad I live in the same area and get to see your work once in a while.

You make me sick!
I'm still learning to paint two colors(no masking) with my airbrush. Too bad I dont have any artistic talent and can only do camo schemes on model planes.
Come to think of it i suck at everything at life

We all know you wanted them different because you suck and you couldn't make them match.
Just kidding!
Wow, good call. At a 1st quick glimpse I thought they were the same. Looking at them now I notice they are very different. Excellent work. Doing them different but the same was a great call.

When I got to preview them in the garage, they were 15 feet apart and looked identical to me, didn't even notice they were quite different.:baby:

that means you just have to try harder than everyone else...
not all winners in life are the smartest or the best, sometimes it's the guy who is more persistant....

I'm sure tons of people want Daylight to paint their skis. The problem is the $300 their, $300 return in freight. Adds up significantly.

The fun part is when you hit the gas on what you think is the "Novice" ski and it is actually the "expert" ski. The power difference between the two is quite different. I have only done that a few times. Wakes you up pretty quick.
what kind of air brush gun are you using to do the 3d effect?
have a quick link of a cheap setup that you recommend? i just want to be able to shoot black to *attempt* what you are doing.
WOW looks killer... it looks crazy good.

The colors were put on with a cheap Husky paint gun and a compressor.
I used an Iwata HP-C for the airbrushed stuff.
The clear was layed on with a Accuspray HVLP.
It all adds up real fast...
I suppose it all depends on what your expectations for the final piece are.

It's shameful that he paints them and then just throws them in the yard like that. :)

Do you find the paint sticks okay to the plastic gas cap and filler?
I have been debating whether to shave mine or just paint it to match my paint scheme.

It sticks "ok"
I make sure the plastic parts are scuffed, super clean, and degreased.
The gas caps I usually just hit with the epoxy primer. Plastic nose pieces and visors get hit with an adheasion promoter then epoxy primer then paint then clear with flex additive.
