I know there's a bunch of Florida fans on here so I figured I would just start some $hit talking. Pretty sure ya'll are probably going to win, but if ya didn't that would be pretty embarrasing cuz we absolutely suck this year.:banghead:

Just don't let what happened last year happen again this year...

The bulls have definitely surprised me. They're really starting to turn into a team. I'd like to see USF vs UF in the Championship.

LSU would cream Florida...they wouldn't have a chance. USF is a solid team but not Championship material. They are up and coming though. I expect to see them in the Top 10 by next year.

I think they'll be ranked top 10 this week especially after that West Virginia upset.

By the way when did you graduate from Auburn?

Emm
09-30-2007, 12:46 AM
Nope....I was taken aside at a young age by family that went to Auburn and they talked some sense into me :headbang: The hubby's entire family went to Auburn though.

We were at the AU-FL game last year...wish we could have gotten to tonights game as well. Oh well...we will be at the AL-AU game in November.

USF won a big game at the right time....most of the top 10 are dropping this week after losses.

Cool. Wish I could go to the AU vs AL game especially cuz Tuscalloosa is only about an hour away from where I am stationed in MS, but I'll be out in Colorado doing some stuff with the Air Force then. Oh well ya'll have fun in t-town. It should be a game. Alabama might finally give us a run for our money.

let me know when auburn even gets ranked.

it was just a lucky break and a game we could afford to lose, thats all.

awww...silly little man ..it's easy to fall back on things after you get beat huh? Stings a lot I know but denial isn't going to help.

It was an SEC game..those DO matter...but what do I know I am just a silly wittle girl. I obviously understand football a little more than you. In the SEC you can't afford to lose ANY games.

I know we aren't the best team out there...but right now that doesn't matter(unlike SOME people I can admit when my team sucks). We could lose every game after this one but to know that you and other Florida fans are crying right now makes me happy:Banane13:

Treasure that little championship because you won't be getting it again this year. Face it ...you lost....to an unranked team at home. It was also your little coach's first lost at home. Geez...all of your problem games seem to have one thing in common...Auburn. Ranked or not we just embarrassed you at HOME.

My neighbor is an Ohio State fan and seems to have that USC is god mentality. He talks down the SEC constantly.

I am guessing that you are an Alabama fan just from your location. (Auburn needs a better quarterback as well...so it could go both ways)

You guys have had pretty decent quarterbacks lately. I think one thing that hurts you is their size....what is up with these pretty boy quarterbacks with college hair? They get hurt too easily. They can't take hits like they should. :toothache:

Brodie was ALWAYS hurt. JPW at least has a little meat on him.

I haven't been able to watch as many Alabama games this season....but how is your O-line looking? Ours has actually gotten a little better after the first few games. We have a bunch of young guys so that is to be expected. The first games poor Brandon Cox was getting CREAMED. It's hard to throw when you are on the ground

Last year, If we had gone and recruited the Offensive line from a local PeeWee league we would have done better, this year, we do have a good offensive line, they rarely let anybody by, problem is JPW is not consistant with his throws, He can make the impossible throws to win a game (Arkansas, Georgia -we did not win but he made some great passes, and even against FSU) where he hit Keith Brown for the last touchdown or to DJ Hall who made the impossible catch of a ball that was going into the stands, what he cannot do is the most basic throws, 15 yard pass, you can hang it up, it will be 10 feet above the reciever... If we are inside the 20, you would think Leigh Tiffin had just kicked the ball the way he will overthrow the reciever..

Yeah, we seem to get the pretty boy Quarter Backs.... I will say, JPW can run with the ball, and his head is on a swivel (most of the time) unlike Brodie Croyle who never saw the lineback who is getting ready to clean his clock.

Yeah that catch for DJ Hall was awesome...I almost cheered for ya'll there for a minute:biggrin:

I noticed that JPW's little bro was the same way...very inconsistent(yeah I watched him on Two a days...I know I'm sad).

I never understood the extreme fascination with Brodie Croyle...my mom actually tried to make me buy her a stupid Sports Illustrated that had him on the cover since it was to be a "collectors item". I said no...he sucks. It seemed like even when he was doing poorly he was still getting the love.

amazingly he did set some school records, and almost got the starting possition for the KC Chiefs, but he was not what he was claimed to be. Keep in mind when you have an incompetant coach, it hard to say how good someone is, just look at the 2004/2005 Florida game here in Tuscaloosa, Shula left all the starters in the game even though we were killing Florida, they go for a touchdown and Tyrone Protho comes down and snaps his ankle like a popsicle stick, it ruined his playing career.

that's the kind of kid you want to take with you to a sports bar, get there about 2 hours before the game starts, get him real drunk, then just sit back and watch him start a bunch of fights during the game and get his ass kicked.

that's entertainment.

pfft....some people just get rowdy during a game. Last year during the LSwho-AU game our neighbor 2 doors down could hear us screaming at the tv.:aargh4:

Try sitting next to a group of 10 after literally 20+ beers each during the AL-AU game. :cheer2: and we managed to not get into any fights...although some old guy did try...but he realized he was old and there were lots of big boys there...he ended up buying us a round of cold beers:shocked:

Nope just grew up in Florida and the Gators were always my team in Florida, but then decided to go to Auburn so Auburn will always be my Alma Mater. I will always root for Florida anytime they're not playing Auburn.

Besides Auburn's season is kind of shot so I need to root for someone who still has a shot to go all the way:biggrin:. If Florida beats LSU I think they've got a really good shot at going to the National Championship and who know's if USC, Cal, OSU, and WIS all lose a game we might get to see UF and USF in the Championship which would be awesome. Hmmmm lets think about that. As long as Florida can beat LSU I think they can pretty much coast by the rest of the season without too much worry. Let's see here

Kentucky (They're a little better this year, but shouldn't be a problem)
Georgia (This one might be a little harder)
Vanderbilt (Enough said)
South Carolina (About the same as Kentucky, maybe a little harder)
Florida Atlantic (:haha:)
Florida State (Should be a walk in the park:bigok:)

So yeah as long as Florida can beat LSU they've got a really good shot at winning out the rest of the season.

Oh yeah...

ummm...Kentucky is doing better than just "good" --ranked higher than the Gators and they seem to be playing quite well...AND if you are lucky to win the SEC East you still have the SEC championship game to get through.

It's not a cake walk like you seem to have in your head.

Kentucky WAS ranked higher than Florida, but after last night I wouldn't count on that staying the same.

No I agree looking at their schedule again it's not as easy as I thought it was going to be, but if they can beat LSU I think they've got a really good shot, probably the best shot in the SEC, to go all the way. Unfortunately Florida will probably have to play LSU again in Atlanta so they might be a problem also.

What? Are you serious? You keep talking all of this nonsense about USF being championship material and LSU isn't? Give me a break! A Number 1 team isn't always going to go out there and blow everyone away every game. LSU played a tough game....they didn't play their best game...BUT they still pulled out the win and made Tim Tebow cry like a little b*tch on national television.

uhhh....I hate that you are making me defend LSU but come on dude....

If you want to use your reasoning then FL shouldn't have still been ranked in the freaking top ten. They got spanked by an unranked team AT home. LSU-FL was going to be a good game no matter who was ranked what...because it was an inner-SEC game. Just like AU and AL....ALWAYS a grudge match no matter who is ranked WHAT.

I despise LSU but dam* dude...give credit when credit is due.

Oh and I still think Auburn can take LSU...we actually play better against top ten teams....10-1 against top 10 teams w/ Tubby.

And Gino...I thought I was betting against LSU-AU not FL...cause I certainly didn't think FL was going to win?!?!?!?

Ok for one I will be the first to addmit Fla is better than #9 the ranking don't mean crap. They should be ranked in the top 5. Fla played a very good game, but in the end the best team won. If Fla out played LSU they should of not let LSU drive and score the full feild 2X. Don't be upset and be a sore loser, be proud of the way Fla played. I just realized my high school head coach was Tebows coach too.... Craig Howard....:aargh4::aargh4::aargh4:

"Everybody loves Coach Howard so much," Nease quarterback Tim Tebow said. "They want to come out here and win for Coach Howard."

Tebow said he doesn't mind working hard for Howard. He proved it in last year's Menendez game when he broke his leg but still finished the contest anyway.

"I know last year when I broke my leg, Coach Howard was sitting over there, and you could just look into his eyes and get back on the field and give it everything you have," Tebow said.

mmm ok. If LSU is such a number one team then why did they struggle so much against number 9 Florida. I don't care what you say Florida outplayed LSU tonight and Florida just couldn't keep it together at the end. In the end yes LSU won, but I don't think they are a number one team. Just wait until Auburn pays you a visit. It's on.:highhorse:

Ok for one I will be the first to addmit Fla is better than #9 the ranking don't mean crap. They should be ranked in the top 5. Fla played a very good game, but in the end the best team won. If Fla out played LSU they should of not let LSU drive and score the full feild 2X. Don't be upset and be a sore loser, be proud of the way Fla played. And if Auburn is a better team then LSU then lose, and you can be happy. Till then give props to the #1 team.

How can you say that? Auburn was unranked when they went to Florida and beat them. It wasn't like it was a road loss for UF. I think they should have fallen further if you ask me. At least overrated USC finally got put in their place. What a crazy season of football.

By me saying ranking don't really mean anything. Do you really think USF could beat UF? No way. Some of the top 10 teams are not strong enough to be the bigger schools. USC has a fairly easy sch. compared to some of the SEC teams. They roll through every yr with no losses b/c they don't play anyone. Like I said before put USC in the SEC and they would have 3 or 4 losses. I wish LUS would play USC and end the debate who's the better team.

Saying USC doesnt play anyone is more a homer SEC statement than anything. They have the 8th toughest schedule- not as tough as some sec schools but come on....

Bowl teams: Seven
Home games: Six
Division I-AA opponents: None
AP Top 25 teams: Three (one at home)
Why they're No. 8: The consensus preseason national title favorite will have to earn its way to the championship game. USC will play host to Oregon State and UCLA, but the rest of its toughest games are on the road. The Trojans have non-conference visits to Nebraska and Notre Dame along with conference road tests at Oregon and California. Each of USC's final six opponents played in bowl games last season.

LSU- 18th toughest schedule....

U of W Huskies have the number 1 toughest schedule btw

Might want to note that they aren't ranked any higher simply because of the amount of home games..not because of the strength of their scheduled teams...last time I checked home games weren't a given.

"The Tigers don't rank higher on this list because nearly all their high-profile opponents must come to Death Valley."

You can't have a 41 point underdog beat you and not be overrated...I don't care WHO you are.

Ducks representing it-

AUTZEN STADIUM BABY!!!

"Sitting in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, Oregon's Autzen
Stadium is one of college football's hidden jewels. Before kickoff,
Autzen is as peaceful as the Willamette River, which runs through
Eugene just a few minutes from the stadium. After kickoff, the fans -
even the alumni - forget who they are, where they come from and what
their degree is in. The audience adopts a new collective identity for
the next three-and-a-half hours: the 12th, 13th and 14th man. Autzen's
59,000 strong make the Big House collectively sound like a pathetic
whimper. It's louder than any place I've ever been, and that includes
"The Swamp" at Florida, "The Shoe" in Columbus and "Death Valley" at
Louisiana State. Autzen Stadium is where great teams go to die." - J.
Brady McCollough, The Michigan Daily.
Top 10 Stadium Lists
"I'm back to list the overall top 10 most intimidating stadiums in the
nation. … For the overall top 10, it's back to the basics -- the 10
most intimidating stadiums for one game and one game only.

1. Autzen Stadium, Oregon
2. Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, Florida
3. Kyle Field, Texas A&M
4. Tiger Stadium, LSU
5. Doak Campbell Stadium, Florida State
6. Ohio Stadium, Ohio State
7. Lane Stadium, Virginia Tech
8. Jordan-Hare Stadium, Auburn
9. Notre Dame Stadium, Notre Dame
10. Memorial Stadium, Nebraska

Trust me on Autzen. Just go to the place and soak it all in. Before
they throw dirt on you, take a trip to Eugene one fall Saturday. …
Autzen Stadium is a zoo; there's no other way to say it. Get inside
your own 20 in a tight game, and you can forget about A.) hearing; B.)
avoiding false starts and C.) success." - Matt Hayes, SportingNews.

"Top 10 College Football Stadiums. … 10. Autzen Stadium. … You can have
your cookie cutter Midwest stadiums and the beauty and pageantry of
Southern traditions. We’ll take the most hostile atmosphere this side
of Gainesville any day, anyway." - MSNBC.

"Top Five most-underrated College football atmospheres: … 5. Autzen
Stadium. It's not so much the atmosphere as the noise. Wow. Just
54,000-plus fans, but the noise rattles all over the place. Night games
are similar to LSU's Tiger Stadium." - Houston Chronicle.
The Noise

"Per square yard, the loudest stadium in the history of the planet."
Keith Jackson - ABC Sports.

"The Autzen Bounce causes deafness in laboratory rats." - Dennis Dodd,
CBSSportsline.

"Q: What would you say the loudest stadiums are? Corso: I think Autzen
Stadium. Per person, the Oregon stadium is the loudest stadium I’ve
ever been in. The fact that it’s so low to the ground doesn’t allow the
sound to escape." Lee Corso, ESPN GameDay.

"If you’ve never been to a game at Autzen Stadium do yourself a favor
and get there soon. One word for the experience. Loud. Hurt your ears
loud. Make them bleed loud. The Big Ten has nothing as loud as Autzen."
- BigTenTailgate.com

"Per capita, Autzen is the loudest venue in all of college football."
J. Brady McCollough, The Michigan Daily.

"It’s very tough. The crowd there is unbelievably educated on when to
be loud and when to calm down when they have the ball. It’s just a very
tough environment with the noise and just trying to communicate." -
Jeff Tedford, Cal HC

"They are very difficult to beat at home. The crowd is, from every
report I get, from every coach I've spoken with, a real factor. You
have to learn to communicate without talking, because talking doesn't
do you any good." - Lloyd Carr, Michigan HC (before playing at Autzen).

"That's the loudest stadium I've ever been in." - Lloyd Carr, Michigan
HC (after playing at Autzen).

"Crowd noise is almost an unfair advantage. You can't check plays, you
seemingly have less time on the play clock and everything starts to
feel really rushed." - Troy Taylor, Cal QB

"They're going to be loud from the first snap until the last snap. They
are right on top of you and they're just relentless." - Barry Alvarez,
Wisconsin HC.

"You can hear a pin drop when their offense is on the field, and when
our offense is out there, it's like being in a thunderstorm." - Thomas
DeCloud, Cal Safety.

UMass?? Good Lord, no.

Nah, I'm a BC fan from waaaaaaay back. But I'm a realist too. Their schedule so far has been pretty soft, and that is why they are undefeated and sitting at #4.

For the most part, BC isn't going to attract the quality of players that USC, Ohio State, FS, or even those lousy Gators can pull in. But, they are well coached, disciplined, and do pretty darn well with what they have, and are fun to watch.

Fan, yes, rabid fan, no. I have plenty of other things to do with my Saturdays...

No, it's not like that at all. And the Gators have done nothing at all noteworthy this season either...unless you call the two straight losses noteworthy.:nana:

If it is raining or crappy outside I'll take in a game, otherwise I'd rather be doing something than watching something. Hell, my Patriots are kicking ass and taking names, but the only game I have watched this season was the Monday night game.

Yep 2 horrible game changing calls by the ref. The first one was the touchdown with 6 men on the line that the ref just decided to forget about the flag and penalty and then the second one was that horrible spot!!! I can't believe Tubby didn't review that play.:banghead:

If they go by the AP Top 25, its

1 Ohio State
2 South Florida
3 Boston College
4 Oklahoma
5 LSU

and you know.. USF > Ohio..

Florida ALWAYS beats Ohio.

All I got to say is that I wanna see Florida vs LSWho in the SEC Championship and I wanna watch Florida crush them.

Go Gators!

when our players do something like that I am screaming at HIM on the dang tv. :grumble:

did you scream at your guy who did the denver broncoesque chop block on glen dorsey? that was a cheap shot. he's lucky he could walk away from that.

i was pulling for auburn. they played a great game...and that was a bad spot! ref blew that one. i thought auburn would challenge it.

Yes I did. I would rather see a clean hard played game than a bunch of crap like that. Although I think what hurt him even more was the fact that our guy fell right below his legs as well. Wasn't a good situation all around.

LSU ruined Dorsey...they should have kept him out of the game..or at least taken him out for longer than they did...instead they just kept putting him in...just hurting him even more. Les Myles didn't give a rat's a** about Dorsey..he was willing to do whatever it took to get a win.

I'll say this... Les Myles looks like the biggest jerk I have ever seen. He just seems to have that "I'm the king" attitude. He needs to wipe that smirk off his face and realize he BARELY beat a team that got spanked earlier in the season by freaking Miss. State. :chairshot:

the guy "falling" right beside him is the chop of the chop block. he didnt fall he went down to take out his legs. it's big time illegal because it knee blower outer.

i couldnt agree with you more on the les miles assessment. he comes across real cocky and smug. to think i felt sorry for him when he nearly got run out of lsu for loosing their huge lead on tennessee a couple years back.

hmmmm...maybe I didn't pay as close attention as I thought. I missed the play in real time and caught most of the replay. Either way it's crap....shouldn't have done it.

I don't know I saw the play and it looked like it could have been an accident. Things like that can easily happen when you're double teaming someone. If it was on purpose then I am truly embarrased, but no one will actually know if it was intentional or not.

surfjunkie
10-21-2007, 09:22 PM
i'm not necessarily saying the intent was too hurt the guy. it is a style of blocking that was made illegal due to injuries. the denver broncos were rumored to be masters at it.

but he did come at him from the side which is probably the worst way to do it.

from the replay i dont know how dorsey was able to walk off the field. it looked nasty.

anyway it was a great game and showed how competitive the sec is.

here's a replay: pretty blatant

this is from an auburn website:

On Chaz Ramsey's block on Glenn Dorsey

"I would like to say this about the chop block. It was one of those things that happened. We do not teach it, won't teach it, won't tolerate it. One of the things all the coaches in our league have talked about is chop blocks and roughing the quarterbacks. That should have been a 15-yard penalty. Glenn Dorsey is one of the best players I've seen. He's a great football player. Two freshmen were trying like the dickens to block him. There was no malice at all, trying to hurt somebody. It should have been called. There is no place for that in college football. Enough said on that. We'll go ahead."

On whether Ramsey will be disciplined

"No, no, no. If you think it's malice where a guy is trying to hurt him, I'd take action. It's just the heat of the moment. It happens. I hate it happened. (Dorsey is) is a great kid, works hard, plays hard. There was no intent whatsoever to hurt him. You look for every way in the world to block a guy like that. Chaz feels bad about it. I hope he's fine."

i think 9 was for the whole game.

they did a premeditated storm the field celebration after their first touchdown. and got 2 right off the bat.

they just played like a team that has been beatdown the last 15 out of 17 times and is sick of it.

congrats GA, you got lucky tebow was playing injured and wasnt at 100%

Please tell me that Florida does not plan their game based off one player... Last time I checked it was a Team Effort......... I would say the Team Lost the game..........

yea tebow was hurt, but what can you say about the florida d? knowshon moreno had a hell of a game. i didnt realize floridas defense was that weak til this game.

yeah our defense makes people look great. i dont think brandon cox had completed a pass until he played florida, then he went like 29 for 30 or close to it. our defense lost alot of talent last year to graduation and the draft.

db's were giving 14 yard cushions when it was 3rd and 8.

here's a question i have. why didnt they bring cameron newton in for designed run plays like they did tebow last year. that guy is tebow 2.0! oh well, sunday morning coaching is fun.

i've got to face an uga fan at work tomorrow. luckily i had a feeling about this game and didnt say a word all week.

not having reggie nelson hurts. that kid was a hell of a play maker. to be honest with you as bad florida's secondary is i am really disappointed that stafford didnt have a 300 yard day, but then again he didnt pass that much. Stafford tebow and mitch mustain were all suppose to be the shizzle coming out of highschool, so far tebow is the only one who has really made a big impact.

It was only a matter of time before Tebow got hurt....you can't run like that much as a quarterback and not get hurt. Funny...all you Florida fans thought you had this year in the bag because of TIM TEBOW. Sucks when you realize that you actually have to have a good TEAM huh? :stooges:
