What about surf riding? I watched Loyd Burlew do his signature handstand in choppy Daytona Surf (back in the day) before roles, and Backys... Its whatever you want to do as a rider.... this sport has in no way seen its limits... I would like to see some new tricks as well... but with massive air, and dirtbike style... FLATWATER is a waste IMHO!.:AR15firing:

I removed my pictures several months ago b/c of exactly this....I'm tired of dealing with people who have no sense of loyalty, no sense of friendship....Chris and I did this because we loved it....not to make money (cause God knows we spent way more than we made in making The Addiction). No one on this site is perfect, but Heaven help you if you do anything that can make everyone jump on the bandwagon to burn the witches....We will cherish the memories that we have from the past couple of years of getting to know most of you....but the select few who screwed it up, well that's just another story....I'm still reeling from the fact that some of the people who were supposed to be our closest friends are who contributed to us making the decision to retire from all things jetski...guess we didn't know them as well as we thought...

Best of luck to most of you....we hope the sport continues to grow...and hope to continue friendships with alot of you guys...Nascency will still be around...

freeride videos ARE repetitive, IMO. theres only so many things that can be done with videoing skis going big. its whether or not, the dvd viewer, likes the repetetivness of big air moves, and how the final production comes out, that matters. personally, i think your vids kick ass! for those who dont like them, theres always reality television, american idol and the crocodile hunter.

i vote that you should stick around, but i understand why you wouldnt want to.

Idiots.

That was nearly 80% of surf riding right there. Surf riding IS repetitive...I love watching it regardless anyway. But its the truth. It's far better to ride then watch surf

I find it very sad that people who are doing such good things for the sport get chased off by the haters. I've seen it multiple times, people stepping back because of negative statements posted here or elsewhere. Some people just don't stop to think before they post, have to put in their 2 cents even though it does nothing to promote the sport.

To Chris and Ra-Honda, please reconsider. By FAR the majority of people out here think you're doing great work and really appreciate what you have done for the sport. Maybe we need to be more vocal about it like the haters are. It always seems to be easier to remember the negative comments, but I've never seen you post a vid or pic that didn't get rave reviews. There's always going to be some thoughtless comments, too, but just ignore the ignorants. It's what they've earned. Don't let the negative people keep you from doing what you love and what we love to see!

Just my 2 cents,
Sharon

Surf riding is repeditive. That's it's problem. The only thing in the video that wasn't a BF or a BR was a tailstand or 2 by Saki.

That doesn't change the fact that I watched the video 4 times, each time a different week, because I wanted to see it again. Everytime I watched it I enjoyed it and still got chills from some of the biggest tricks.

I don't mean to say this as an insult. I say this as constructive criticism. To quit because a few people gave you a hard time shows a lack of character. For every one person who says something bad, there's at least 50 that thought something good. Yet you still give up because of that one person. If I quit everytime I met someone that gave me a hard time in what I was doing, I'd have quit everything, and be doing everything alone.

No matter where you go, or what you do, if it involves other people, you WILL encounter someone who is a problem. The only solution is to shut them all out and just be by yourselves. That to me, isn't a very good solution.

Stand strong and walk through the few insults. For every one person standing in your way, there's a 1000 behind them waiting for you to get past that person so they can praise you for your work.

Hope you change your mind. I was wanting to watch that video again.

Obviously there were other reasons for Chris to make his comments and quit other than the comment made by someone talking about do another backflip off a big wave? Am I right? Otherwise if it was only because of what was said on this thread then thats just crazy. Id like to know what someone of people have done to make him say this and act as if people hate what he does, otherwise maybe he just wants to spend all his time filming stunt bikes which seems to be taking off a bit more than freeride. ok...let me see if i can clarify...yes it was more than one comment that got me all fired up...if i have gotten bad video reviews, people calling my videos crap to my face, etc...i am used to stuff like that...i was already in a foul mood and unfortunately mark44 took the brunt of it right then...

i need to take a step back...for many different reasons. the filming for ITB was not going the way i wanted it...same locations, shots, faces, etc just seemed stale to me..the addiction all over again...c'mon, that would be boring...i want to do a whole lot more than just a sequel.

and the scene has changed...tremendously. there are alot more people, alot good, some not so good. but you know what they say, "a few bad apples..."

i am trying to sort out who the bad apples are in my life right now...

there is a very palpable feeling of negativity floating around. more people are coming to the freerides...but i have noticed at the ones i was at this year that more cliques are kind of keeping to themselves...hence the worm walk at allatoona, to try and get everyone to come together and mingle, meet, and grow...

i feel like some people are losing sight of what got them started down this road we have all gone down...

thank you everyone for the kind words, and the encouragement...it really means alot to me...

and yes, i film streetbikes...but also freestyle motocross...ama, bmx, all kinds of stuff...i have always been spastic when it comes to shooting...keeps me from getting bored...but it is not the reason i would walk away from one genre or another...

I also know what your saying when it comes to freerides, ive only been to wave rave twice, this year was a lot more fun than my first year but I def noticed cliques, but hey if ya know a group of who comes down together i would probably stick with my buds too. Maybe in a few years there will be some new stuff to shoot, bigger more tech stuff, big wave riding would be killer like what randy laine has done, to film that up close would be sweet. Anyways, ive seen all your trailers, they rock, very unique style and not just clipped together like alot of other extreme sports videos ive seen.

ok...let me see if i can clarify...yes it was more than one comment that got me all fired up...if i have gotten bad video reviews, people calling my videos crap to my face, etc...i am used to stuff like that...i was already in a foul mood and unfortunately mark44 took the brunt of it right then...

i need to take a step back...for many different reasons. the filming for ITB was not going the way i wanted it...same locations, shots, faces, etc just seemed stale to me..the addiction all over again...c'mon, that would be boring...i want to do a whole lot more than just a sequel.

and the scene has changed...tremendously. there are alot more people, alot good, some not so good. but you know what they say, "a few bad apples..."

i am trying to sort out who the bad apples are in my life right now...

there is a very palpable feeling of negativity floating around. more people are coming to the freerides...but i have noticed at the ones i was at this year that more cliques are kind of keeping to themselves...hence the worm walk at allatoona, to try and get everyone to come together and mingle, meet, and grow...

i feel like some people are losing sight of what got them started down this road we have all gone down...

thank you everyone for the kind words, and the encouragement...it really means alot to me...

and yes, i film streetbikes...but also freestyle motocross...ama, bmx, all kinds of stuff...i have always been spastic when it comes to shooting...keeps me from getting bored...but it is not the reason i would walk away from one genre or another...

i always tell u when u suck........... and u suck alot............

This is BS.

Just ask my wife how many times she has been forced to sit through The Addiction or the latest trailer. Hostages in hi-jack situations have it easier.

You could talk to my friends and co-workers, they too will tell you tales of being kidnapped.

My all stock square nose has only 2 stickers on it (other than the registration and stock graphics), one is an "x-h2o" sticker and the other is,.............. yep a "NascencyProject.com" sticker.

I love your videos and one day hope to be decent enough to make it into one of them. Until then I will just keep watching them till the DVD wares out.

What these haters don't realise is that you are capturing these images for all time. In years to come we will treasure these videos as we remember our younger years and torture our grandkids with them.

DON'T STOP DOING WHAT YOU DO FOR US
Weather we know it or not you are doing us a great service for which I personally thank you.

What cracks me up about this forum is how people take things SO seriously. If you can't take critisim then you aren't going to make it through life. Either take the ciritism and try to improve or tell everyone to screw off. Taking it personally is just going to make you self distruct.

You say WTF do you want to see in a Jet Ski Video, I think what Mark44 is saying is more flatwater-expand to show different people.

You know you can bash me all day long for saying this but I agree. AGAIN not saying that the addiction sucked at all. I liked it. But that is what makes people grow, more suggestions. Why do stores have a suggestion box-to maybe bring other aspects to the business that they wouldn't think about. Doesn't mean that they have to conform to all the suggestions, some they will and some they won't.

too true. the other side of it is that its already a complete "movie" that took a lot of time and effort into putting together for little or no money. its all in how the opinions are expressed. maybe saying something like, "hey chris, in your next movie id really dig some more of the flatwater stuff" would fly better than, "can we see another backflip off a huge wave?".

I hear ya.....but no one set out a suggestion box here...besides, it didn't sound like constructive criticism, It's sounds more like someone trying to stir the pot to get a reaction out of peeps by being a smart ass.

We have always gone into any project we work on knowing that some people will love it, some won't...not a problem for us. We did all this because we love it--and the people associated with the sport. As long as at the end of the day we could step back and be proud of it, and know that we didn't take advantage of any of you guys in the process, well that's all we cared about.

Part of it is exacly what Chris said above...wanting to step back and make sure In the Blood isn't just The Addiction---a year later...we would like to take a fresh new approach---but we gotta figure out what that is first....:dunno:

The second part is that our whole illusion of friendships within this sport was shaken up pretty badly this week. I expect that if Chris and I go to bat for you (alot) and make sure that you are well represented in our work, that we are loyal to you, make ourselves available to you anytime as friends, etc.---I expect that we should at least get the same respect in return...no??? Apparently not--apparently it was very easy for a certain person to forget all that and not be man enough to go to bat for us....

This was very hurtful--as this was a longtime "friend". The whole situation was very disheartening. It is time as Chris said--for us to weed out the bad apples and figure out where we go from here.

no to single you out Rhonda - but either tell the whole story with all the sordid details - or keep it to yourself and don't post anything about it.

to only post part of the story and say "it doesn't do anyone any good to name names" - does more harm than anything. It gets people to wondering what is going on, and soon enough it spirals downhill and people end up at each other's throats for no damm reason.

it's not just you - it been happening quite a bit around here lately - and I'm sick of what happens as a result.

not for nothing but who are you to tell them how to handle their business and personal relationships? (and i know it doesnt sound like it but im actually not tryin to ask that in an a55hole way)

they stated everything they were comfortable with stating........ but were pushed to state more....... and now that they have u are telling them to keep it to themselves if they cant tell u every detail?

lets get something straight..... they (or anyone for that matter) has a right to keep anything the wish to themselves....... they chose to reveal a few things and thats what they want revealed..... if they dont say another word on the topic ist their right......... if they choose to come back and reveal more or all of whats concerned them that is their right also....... but to tell them or anyone "but either tell the whole story with all the sordid details - or keep it to yourself and don't post anything about it." is a bit ridiculous

In response to your question, it's childish.

"I've got a secret and I'm not going to tell".

Why tell someone you have a secret if you are not going to tell?
Are you barging about the fact you have a secret?
Do you feel special?

In response to Penguin, you have to look at all the BS on this site.

If you're not going to name names, then just say we are done and end the discussion. Giving piecemeal info just stirs the pot and entices the antagonists on the boards.

I don't care if Chris and Rhonda tell the tale or not. (and it's not just Chris and Rhonda - it's happening way too much IMO)

but only telling bits and pieces is what gets the vultures circling.

and then Mark fires up the Jiffy Pop

and then numerous people get involved.

and everyone on this board has to wade through a mountain of sh!t - and in the end what is accomplished.

nothing - except now 3 people want to duke it out at the next freeride. (not in this case, but as an example)

it creates barriers - and that's not what this place should be about.

Hey, all we did was respond to people asking why the link to "The Way Things Were" was no longer working. We tried to be as politically correct about it as we could--then a few individuals decided we were "being childish and quitting because someone talked bad about our video". I reacted and explained why that was not the truth of the matter.

Now, that said---wouldn't me posting names and sordid details only add more to the drama and give you more crap to wade through??????:ponder:

i dont get it.
the video is a great documentation, whats all this whining over?
i saw a few more things that a backflip, and screw WHAT trick is being pulled. watch the subtle style from each rider. to me everyone looks different out there and that is whats entertaining to me. the vid had great music and how it was put together was perfection.

i watch this video almost everyday.

Chris and Rhonda are great people and their work is awesome. He's given me some helpful advice in the past and losing them from the sport would be horrible. I LOVE the addiction and I dont think anyone could have captured the freerides feelings and purpose better than they did.

I just read the last 12 pages.................. I'm never going to get that time back am I?

I think anyone/everyone should have pretty thick skin, especially since we are dealing with a internet message board.

I liked the video ........ I also laughed at mark44's smart ass comments.

............ I am sure there is something else going on but, why bring it up on a message board unless you can elaborate!

The casual reader HAS NO F####NG IDEA WHAT PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT!

Thats all I got.

P.S. Oh yeah ....................... :popcorn4:
