I'm own a 2001 dodge ram 4x4 off road. I'm currently running LT305/70R16 Goodyear MT/R's now. I will need new tires before this coming winter...

question to anyone out there who owns a dodge or works with tires:

I guess the 305/70R16 is roughly a 33" x 12.5" tire... can i fit a 35" x 12.5" tire on my off road stock suspension? and does that size equate to 315/70R16?

Or should I stick with the size i have now. I can't cut the wheel all the way over or the back side will rub on the suspension.

also, does anyone have any good feedback on miles driven on any of these tires:

*Goodyear MT/R - I got about 40k miles on mine
*Firestone Destination M/T
*Dunlop Radial Mud Rover
*BF Goodrich Mud Terrain T/A KM
*Dunlop Radial Rover RV
*Bridgstone Dueler AT w/Uni-T
*Cooper Discoverer STT

thanks for any input...

ive ran the cooper stt and bfg muds as well as procomp muds. i really liked the coopers. KMs are badass but cost too much. is your truck a 1/2 or 3/4 ton? im pretty sure it must be a half ton for it to say "off road" so you might be able to fit 35s if you crank on the torsion bars a bit. if your runnin a 3/4 ton the a set of $200 spacers will have you clearin 35s no problem and maybe even 36s.

yes, 1/2 ton

so in order to fit 35" tires i have to crank the tortion bars a little... that will give me a little harder ride right? however, since i do plow with it, it will help off set the extra weight of the plow...

i think you might need aftermarket wheels with less offset for it not to rub in turns. but still 35s on a half ton is prettty hard on ball joints, bushings, tranny, etc. might want to stick with 33s.

Ive had dunlop radial mud rover tires on my 4runner for a couple of years now.

31/10.50 size.

they are VERY aggresive, great offroad, great in the mud/snow, mucho sticky tires. and they really arent as loud as alot of the mud tires out there. they balanced pretty easily without too much weight, and ride/handle well on the road.

the downsides.

they wear pretty fast, I think ive got less than 30K miles on them and they need to be replaced.

also, they dont have good traction on wet pavement. the brakes lock easily, and the rear tires spin with light throttle application. ( this is typical of mud tire treads, not just these tires)

that's what i was affraid of... i just replaced the front bearings and ball joints this past spring. I guess I'll stay with the 33's.

I got some really decent pricing from tirerack.com but there is a place locally that is slightly higher, but will come to my work to mount, spin balance and install them included in their total price. I'll have to give them a call...

how about longevity/milage - any thoughts on best tire from the list?

Thanks again...

cool... thanks for that feebback... yeah, My MT/R's kill in the snow, but slip on wet surfaces a bit too... I guess all of these tires will be about the same in terms of on road performance and milage... doesn't really matter i guess.

finally decided on the tires to buy for my truck... decided to go away from spending $1400 on 33" MT/R's and went with a set of 33.3" Nitto Terra Grapplers for half the price. They are not as aggressvie as the MT/R's but i like the price better.
