Guys,
As some of you may know that the Claybanks Township Park wants to make sure that we operate within there rules and guidelines. This park is geared toward family use, but they are welcoming us for this freeride with conditions. They do not want this freeride to turn into an wild party where anything goes. This past Monday night Cybermob and I attended the township meeting expressing our groups ideas and the plans we had. They were not overly excited about us using the park, since in the past this park has been known for some pretty wild activity. They have turned the park into a family based park and want to keep it that way. I will attach the park rules that they have in place already, we will follow them and those indiviuals that do not follow them will be asked to leave the park by park officails. None of us want this to happen, we all really enjoy this spot for this freeride and don't want a couple indiviuals ruining it for the rest of us. Lets let the past be in the past and look forward to the future!

Also, there will be a Jetski area south of the stairs, this area will be marked off with a sign and a couple bouys. We will park our skis in this area and we can ride close to shore in this area as well. Once we are 200 yards from shore we can ride anywhere on the lake. Some of you will be fairmilar with this, it is similar to the Daytona Motosurf. The swimmers will have the north half of the beach and we will have the south half. IMO, we will be just fine with this area, it is a rather large area and has an AWESOME beach. For those of you that have never riden Lake Michigan, you are in for a treat, it is a beautiful lake with very clean water!!

We also will be supplying garbage cans and a Butt Bucket to help keep the beach clean, please use them.

The rules are in place so we can come back to this park in the future for future freerides.

I can't wait to see all you guys and enjoy this freeride! Let's hope and pray for some good surf! I was out on the lake yesterday and there was some pretty nice 2-3 footers!! :brap:

We can also buy launch permits from the park host instead of at the launch.

PUUULLLEEEZZZEEEE FOLLOW THE RULES!

I think Bruins and I both agree the park seems VERY receptive of CLEAN, ORDERLY conduct. They don't want to kick us out, and I can't believe any of us WANT to.

It seemed the biggest points they made were:

NO ALCOHOL. That mean none in your tent, your car, your ski, your pockets, in a cup, can, water bottle, etc etc. Bars are for drinking, this place is NOT.

NO OBNOXIOUS BEHAVIOR. They are not willing to change or lax their wishes to keep it a clean, family park, even if for one night, or one weekend. Just maintain composure people!

WE ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO REMEMBER THAT WE ARE GUESTS! WE HAVE NO "RIGHT" TO BE THERE, IT IS A PRIVELEDGE! THE LEAST WE CAN DO IS FOLLOW THEIR RULES.

THIS IS MY WARNING!:

The rules will be enforced by not just the camp personnel/hosts. We have word they will also have the LAW (you know what I mean) on hand and at minimum, nearby, for assistance if (lets hope NOT) needed. They made it very clear that you WILL NOT BE TOLERATED if you don't follow the rules. If you're lucky you will be warned and cease your behavior, and if you're unlucky, you'll get kicked out.

THIS IS MY ADVICE!:

There IS NO BETTER PLACE TO HAVE THIS EVENT! PERIOD! Its CHEAP, CLEAN, AND HAS TONS OF SPACE! We simply need to follow the rules and be courteous. That's it! Jet skiers and events have taken a bad rap for being wild, obnoxious, and inconsiderate. We need to change this ASAP.

don't make us PERSONALLY ban you korn... lol...

i think we'd all rather have it wild and obnoxious... and if there were a place large enough to host this event that welcomed that kind of behavior we'd be switching.

until then... enjoy the hands down most fun, clean, accessible and relaxed place to ride lake michigan. its a trade well worth it...

I just cant believe there is such a thing as a campground that doesnt allow alcohol, Id hate to be the dad who has to deal with his kids all day and cant even have a beer by the fire at night. Maybe its because its all we do in the UP but that is just a crazy rule. I can go for the weekend without if that it the rules.

Most, if not all, state parks prohibit alcohol possesion/use.

all i have to say is... claybanks has certainly changed since i started going there... the new owners (the township) are allergic to fun...

i remember when the old owners loved us. we'd drink so much beer and leave the cans right on the ground, in the morning their son would come over and pick them all up to go get his 10cent deposits from them to buy a new gameboy!

whatever the rule may be, we NEED to respect their rules. The days of partying and drinking beer at Claybanks is over, which attributes to the fact that they have so much trouble getting anyone to come up there anymore. Wave Rave is their biggest weekend of the year and they would rather have up not return in the future. Bottom line is, there is no other riding spot like it in the world, so i'm going to do what I can to hang on to the thread that I have!

we can break the rules and have this be our last year...

or we can obey them and do this for years to come...

personally i'd rather keep them happy (doing whatever makes them happy) and have a place to go for one weekend a year...
