So I caught a nasty bug in Florida, and I think I'm on the verge of dying. I've passed on riding two seperate days this weekend. It's now been 8 days since I last rode, and I'm going stir crazy. I don't know how you bastards from up north deal with it. I can't imaging going months without riding.

Now if I could only get over being sick!!! :aargh4:

Colds suck.

He didn't get anything *that* bad. He hasn't missed any riding days

That ice cold salt water sure did loosen up some **** in my lungs though! I normally wouldn't have ridden in such cold weather/water.

As far as winter, I prefer hurricanes.

Are you talking about Daytona? I never ONCE thought, "man, it sure is cold out here." The water was super warm, and the wind was a non-issue with a wetsuit on.

Yep Daytona. Saturday was the day that killed my chest. The wind and the water spray were ****ing cold! I felt like the wind was slicing the skin on my legs. I wasn't wearing a wetsuit Saturday. :smashfreakB:

Sunday I wore a dive skin and it was less windy. No probs that day.

Well this winter has been pretty mild, but I bet that water is high 30's. I saw ice on a lake off I94 yesterday.

Yeah not riding for months on end does suck. I lived near Mobile, AL for 3 years and got to ride all year round... then moved back north... man it's hard getting used to not riding all winter again. I think I need to move down with my brother-in-law in Palm Beach Gardens, FL...

Yup I'm sick too. Just hit me yesterday so I'm not sure if I picked it up in FL or not.
As for not riding for months on end that is why I try to make at least one trip to FL in the winter maybe two if I'm luck like this year.

I caught some nasty cold in fl. also???? leave the freezing north fine and go catch a cold in the balmy 75 deg weather? how long have you guys been feeling the affects of this thing?

jetskier79
01-26-2006, 01:20 PM
I've been going on just over a week now. Still coughin up all sorts of nastyness. I finally broke down and saw a doctor last night (I never go to the doctor). He said figures it's a viral thing and gave me a laundry list of over the counter meds to take.

01-26-2006, 02:21 PM
I can deal with the cold weather even though I would rather not have it. I can't see how someone can own a ski and not live near an ocean. I don't even take the ski out if there are no waves.

For all you guys with the colds try http://www.mucinex.com/. This stuff gets all the stuff out of your chest. It's just an over the counter expectorant.

jetskier79
01-26-2006, 02:42 PM
mucinex is what I've been taking, it's been doing a decent job of keeping my coughs down. It takes forever for it to kick in though, and if I don't overlap doses enough, I can feel it just stop working, and then my coughs come back.

The downtime has its benefits... you dont spend money on gas and oil and you have time to build your ski up... for... the... flatwater... show me a cheap way to live by the warm sunny surf and im there...
