ok, now it's my turn...hehe
well after watching my husband and Mark cut up his ski and put it
back together (which was really scary) and then looking at my husbands
paint work that he was doing (looks really good), I got a little
jealous. I decided to do little bit to my ski. Mine looked good
compared to his until he fixed it up. First off, I got hit by a couch
rider towards the end of last riding season, so I had to fix those
spots, http://img475.imageshack.us/img475/2506/10000774ti.th.jpg (http://img475.imageshack.us/my.php?image=10000774ti.jpg)then Jonathan found that my hood liner was falling out. In the
process of Jonathan taking the liner out, he put another hole in it,
(thanks a lot!!!) so we had to fix that too. http://img475.imageshack.us/img475/8031/10000713wy.th.jpg (http://img475.imageshack.us/my.php?image=10000713wy.jpg)http://img74.imageshack.us/img74/1746/10000707cn.th.jpg (http://img74.imageshack.us/my.php?image=10000707cn.jpg) http://img74.imageshack.us/img74/405/10000695zy.th.jpg (http://img74.imageshack.us/my.php?image=10000695zy.jpg)

In all, I think I had 5
spots to repair. We decided to go to GA this year in May, so I decided
that I need to get mine looking a little better along with a little
more
power, so I can show those guys up! Not really, I am getting really
good at swimming though, since I have to swim after my ski every 2
minutes. Jonathan said something about cutting off that ugly air hole
on top...it's a 550.http://img506.imageshack.us/img506/2002/10000790hk.th.jpg (http://img506.imageshack.us/my.php?image=10000790hk.jpg)http://img506.imageshack.us/img506/1629/10000787ht.th.jpg (http://img506.imageshack.us/my.php?image=10000787ht.jpg)http://img506.imageshack.us/img506/1741/10000812ju.th.jpg (http://img506.imageshack.us/my.php?image=10000812ju.jpg)

AFTER I sanded down all the repaired spots by
hand,
Jonathan told me about and showed me how to use a DA. Yes, that was
after I sanded it all BY HAND!!! Not very nice of him. Then, I
started
cutting out that air scoop (that was a little scary, never used a
dremel
before) and laid glass on the inside. I put 2 layers of 24oz cloth and
3
layers of 8 oz. This was all last night so, now I'm waiting for the
epoxy to dry, so I can fill in the outside and make it smooth, then cut
my new air intake in the rear of the hood like my husband's hood, paint
and make it all nice and pretty. http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/8854/10000681rs.th.jpg (http://img227.imageshack.us/my.php?image=10000681rs.jpg)

All I do is jump and fall off. It doesn't take footholds to do that!
biscuit
01-24-2006, 02:19 PM
I also have to put all new turf on it
because when I let Jonathan and his buddy take it out and they torn the
snot out of it. That's what I get for letting a bunch of boys play
unsupervised
Mark44

The falling part is probably the lack of footholds.:bananajump: :bananajump:

You need to pull the turf off that area.
Next Saturday should be good. That would be the 4th. We can make another party out of it and I guess you can bring Jon if you want.

Hi Jessie! Do you wear gloves when you ride? You'll swim for your ski a lot less if you just... DON'T LET GO! Gloves will help with that.
Go for the footholds! You don't *have* to use them... but you will

I would hold on, but I go too fast and the ski just rips out of my hands.
Really, I do wear gloves most of the time, but I have to hold my nose when I go under water, so I can't hold on with one hand. :27:

Just make her jealous of your ski and she'll want to. At least she has one and rides though. It kinda sucks because I am the only girl that rides a stand up around here. By the way soon to come is Coffman's exhaust, Westcoast head, haven't decided what domes yet, and a 440 pump with a Solas impeller. Now I will really beat Jonathan when we race (since I can with stock 550 already). Cute AND Fast!

First I had to get all the stupid turf off. That will never happen again. I'm a big baby and got 5 blisters out of the deal. Jonathan, yet again, decided to take a short cut with the DA on this, but that was AFTER I was blessed with the blisters. Isn't he so nice and thoughtful!

Next came the scary part-the cutting. After Mark drew the outline for the footholds he cut into the first side. Then I decided to give it a try. It looked like a woodpecker got ahold of it by the time I was done, but I got the job done-I just gave it a little character. We also had to remove the fire extinguisher holder in order to put the foothold in on the right side.

Next we put the footholds in place and screwed them in so we could epoxy them in for good. We used short sheetmetal screws and West Systems epoxy with 403 filler b/c we used all the 404 up on Jonathan's ski. We made sure not to get the epoxy on the screws so we could remove them later. We ended up not having enough screws (Mark was being a little picky about the size of them) so Jonathan and I had to make a trip to Lowe's. We learned not to leave Mark and Lou unsupervised while we were gone-especially with the heat gun-remember Mark's little fire with Jonathan's ski). We came back to some fun pictures on our camera. (Mark is the one in the Yamaha hat and the one with the drill at my ski, where it SHOULD NOT BE!!! and Lou is the one that looks like he is about to take a bit out of the camera)

I gotta redo the hood on my 550 as well. What was the best way to get that "liner" out and all of that glue out? just stab at it and cut away? or do you have some tricks you wanna share?

sorry it took me so long to get back, get a heat gun and have patience, if you use a lot of heat and patience, you won't crack it like i did, you can also slip a hacksaw blade in for some of it

yup, you rode it. i thought you did pretty well compared to most people that come off the bigger skis, it's a lot of fun, and has decent mid and high snap, but no bottom,
and you know how high tech that trailer is, check out my bunks, those are dunlop 756's right there buddy!!! that's high dollar:biggrin: each tire only used 1 race day, i've even got the high tech wibble wobble wheels on that sucka!!lol

Its because im so dainty, and graceful!
haha
those tires actually worked well on the beach instead of pvc stands, the tires were the only things that held a ski inplace in the LOTO surf.
Im still looking for a boat for my son.
He and I rode alot Friday and Sat, the people in boats look at him really strange!
haha
