Finally I purchased a ski. It's been almost 2 years in the making. It took me a long time finally deciede on a make and model but I did and I ended up buying a new 2004 Superjet. This ski was given away as a contest prize but the winner did not want it they wanted the optional cash prize.

I got what I think is a pretty good deal on a new ski at not quite 1/2 of the cost of a new 2007. It has never been ridden and has the full factory warrenty.

I stopped by to pick it up today and while doing the walkaround checking things out I found 2 obvious problems.
1)the hood seal needs replacing. No prob new part is on order and should be here Monday.
2)Where is the freshwater flush out attachment hose fitting??? We i.e. myself, my father and 4 or 5 techs from the dealer could not find it! I traced all the water hoses and found nothing resembling a flush fitting anywhere under the hood. The dealer techs didn't have a clue and said they would call Yamaha in the morning.

Can someone please post a picture of the correct factory position for the freshwater flush out fitting. I'm hoping it's simply retro fitting another hose with the fitting for the garden hose adaptor. Or am I missing something...

Other than having some radio station stickers on it it's a brand new ski for almost 1/2 price of an '07.

Thanks-Scott

i think the stock flush comes off the pipe or manifold assuming a stock pipe

there is not a flush kit on the SJ. you have to add one.

Don't bother adding a flush kit, just get one of these from Blowsion, Watcon or make your own and backflush. :pat:

Also congrats on your new ski and be prepared to never kite again.

...and you will void your factory warranty anyways in 5, 4, 3, 2, ... j/k

you will get bored of a stock setup pretty quickly. start saving up for the bare essentials!

They're right, no factory flush kit on a Superjet.

My 05 superjet came with a factory flush kit. Must have been the first year they started it.

My '06 does/did not have a flush kit either.

Make sure the impeller, intake grate and bars/grips are the first mods, then pipe and head.

Thanks for the info. I'll just pick it up tonight and add a valve. I'm only riding in salt water. A few minutes south of my folks house I can see the bridge for Sebastion Inlet across the river as well. I'm sure I'll keep kitesurfing. The ski will keep me going in the no wind situations.
The techs were pretty new. I figured there was a flush kit on it. I'll have to add one. I've got a few months to get to the point where i can ride ok. By that time I won't need the warrenty and it will get modded. That's part of the fun....
I've got a killer set of tools I can fix it up for sure. I've also got a nice airbrush and lots of carbon and fiberglass cloth and lots of resin.
My Dad is building a 30'x50' 12' 18' tall garage on his property with a car lift. I can fix anything.

Just for added clarification here - those weren't "techs", they were "guys that work in the shop". :ponder:

The further you get along in the PWC hobby the more you'll realize that was totally bonehead of them not to know a) that there wasn't a flush kit on the machine and b) that they didn't even know where one would go.

I figured as much about their status in the store. They did come right out and admit they didn't know and said "sorry we don't know". That admission kinda made up for the their lack of knowledge. At least they didn't try to make something up. They pulled out the service manuals and made a serious try to figure it out. Just to clarify, one of the main service guys knew where it should be, he just didn't know why it was not there.

You are right it was not the best thing to happen to me and I'm sure they will get in trouble for it.

They have not recieved a call back from Yamaha as of 4:00pm today. I'm going to let them figure it out and either put one on or at least tell me there is not one included. Either way I'm going to pick the ski up tomarrow evening or Saturday morning.

At this point the ski is still at the shop and I'm going to let them sort it out 'cause it's really their problem. Luckily it's been raining in the afternoons so I couldn't go out anyway.

Please educate me on which line I should add the flush "valve".
Go easy on me....this is my first ski.

If you look down at your pipe near the curved part, you will see a water line that goes in. Right next to the water line, there is a plug that you can take out with a flat head screw driver. Remove the plug and install the brass fitting that comes with the flush kit. Connect the flush hose to the fitting and you're set.

I spoke with the dealer today and they told me Yamaha told them to install a flush kit. That's what they are doing.

I picked up my ski on Saturday. Everything is good. Flush kit installed and working. I was able to take it out for a little while on Saturday only :frown:

I got back and started cleaning it up. Double check me and make sure I did everything I need to do. I run in salt water.
1)flush out salt water with engine running and water hose hooked up.
2)get rid of extra water after turning off water hose by blipping the throttle
3)spray WD-40 into screw fitting until motor dies or 20 seconds or so.
4)spray down everything I can get access to.
5)wet vac remaining water out of engine compartment.
6)general wash down with fresh water.

Anything else?

Now I want to add a seperate manually switch operated bilge. I think I know all the parts I need. I came up with a list from blowsion.com
1)bilge
2)45 degree spray fitting
3)bilge hose
4)on/off switch with wire
5)bilge mounting bracket
Is this everything?

Thanks for helping.

I think in my 99's manual it shows you how to flush the motor. Just take out that screw, and screw in the hose fitting.

I got the flush out kit installed and working. The Yamaha dealer did this because Yamaha told them to. The ski apparently was supposed to have the kit on it per Yamaha.

What I'm looking for is tips beyond what the owners manual says.

Lots as happened since I last posted!

Here is my ski as of today. We installed Blowsion Klowners. I had to cut the exhaust side footwell down to better fit over the exhaust pipe. Thanks Beachjunkey for the help.

Next up is lots of grinding.

Thanks Bronson-It was good seeing ya last weekend. Bummed your ski wasn't working. Getting the holds in was easier than I thought it would be. I'll be tearing it up with ya'll soon enough. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get part of the basic grinding done.
