Who all is gonna be there? I will do BBQ for Saturday dinner and I want to make sure there is plenty of food. I will do Ribs, Chicken, Brisket, sausage, potato salad, beans and green beans. I will also bring bread, pickles, onions, plates, and plasticwear. Donations will be accepted, but I am not asking for any $$$$.

Hopefully all of this rain will stop!! The lake is currently 7-8 feet high, but they are releasing water to get it down to normal. There are some boat ramp closures, but I believe the park's is still open. The campsites are right on the shore and if I remember right, skis can easily be launched with beach carts.

If you can't find an extra camp site, I always have a open house down the road a ways. Right across from the campsite (by water)

Lake Somerville agin?? Im not sure if we could get a camp site though.
We are doing CB in a month Ide like some fresh water riding please.

I talked to Phillip, and we are more than welcome to ride at his house on Canyon. Everyones welcome to stay at mi casa. My second vote would be sommerville. Lake Travis is probably out of the question...

That was exactly MY point to begin with! But no one was listenin' to the lil' Ducky. We're going somewhere on the 3rd weekend, just haven't decided where. If Texoma shapes up, it could be up there (sorry Penguin, you're welcome to come), or to the non-surf. We'll see how it looks surf-wise and Texoma launch-wise when it gets closer.

would it be to crazy on the weekend to set up buoys? I have lived in austin my whole life, but I have never rode on Travis...

Would anybody else vote on Travis? It's a good Central Location still...

The East/West challenge is on Summerville that weekend.

Is it shall we say stand up /cruiser chasing friendly?

QuickMick

but I can ask a couple friends.

Prem1x

Trails End was under water last time I was there (2 weeks ago). Even if its down, I doubt there would be anywhere to park without asking Mr Davenport if you could park in his yard.

Pace Bend is a good spot for chasing cruisers and you camp there.

I'll be at Somerville.

called pace bend park, and they are open. The main number for them is 512-264-1482. For the sites with water hook-ups and ect, you need to call 3wks in advance. That number is 512-825-7275. Im sure if they have spots open, they'll waive the 3week rule....

I can head down Thursday night also to grab a site for some people. Penguin, care to share? :bigok: I just called the camp grounds, and there isn't a limit on how many people are at each site. Just a car limit, 2 cars per site.

Skinny, do we need more buoys? Joe, the guy working on my jet ski is going to head down also and he has buoy's if we need them....

Peter123
07-31-2007, 06:30 PM
Just a quick suggestion, has anybody considered City Park (Emma Long Park) on Lake Austin?

The banks are dirt instead of rock (like Travis). They have 2 nice ramps and good facilities. There are plenty of shaded places and waterfront sites. It's a shorter drive from most highways. Water is usually a lot less choppy than Travis (I assume chop - Lake Travis chop - is bad for these events). The levels are consistent - no flooding. They have motorcycle track and trails, mountain bike trails and sand volleyball courts.

On the negative side, it's a river more than a lake. Sometimes the lake weed is a little out of control, but only from time to time.

http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/parks/emmalong.htm

It was also given an award for "The Best Place For A Keg Party At The Lake" by the Austin Chronicle:

http://www.austinchronicle.com/gyrobase/Guides/Location?region=West&GuideCategory.GuideLevel=Civic&oid=oid%3A96246

The Penguin
07-31-2007, 06:58 PM
I jsut called Emma Long Park - sounds pretty neat.

and it's right near Mo-Pac so it's easy to get to.

Someone could go on Thursday and claim spaces for the weekend. To claim it, it has to be paid for and either a tent or RV has to be left on site, or they will re-sell the space.

There are markers to designate the swim areas. The buoys can be placed on the other side.

The lake isn't incredibly far across at this spot, so you can jump on your ski and get to a cruiser quickly as they go by :brap:

Yep, Saturday night 11ish thru monday mid-afternoon. Trying to find a boat to bring, right now the beast has a meltdown. Rear crank seal went and took the piston with it. Funny thing...it looks like the "snagged ring" from rideitlikeyoustoleit's 750, only I know for certain that THIS one is detonation.

Yesterday I went and cranked up my blasters after many weeks of not running them. Blaster 2 started and ran fine. Blaster one had some ear wrenching grinding sound when starting it. Here is what I found.
What the hell caused this?? I dont remember any noise when I put the ski up from the canyon ride a few months back. But now there is high spots on my wear ring. WTF!???
Then my chick hurt her finger and cant go. (yea it looked bad)
Maybe ill go and drink rita's all day and watch you guys ride.

Could there be corrosion between the stainless liner and the aluminum housing pushing it in???

Hey guys,
I apologize for not posting more lately. Unfortunately, I lost my father last Wednesday and I have had a very bad and busy week.

I am still going this weekend and will still do the "Q" for Saturday night. I will not be getting out there until Saturday morning however. PLEASE PLEASE make sure there is a campsite for me. I will have two tents (one large and one small).

As for the dinner, I will do brisket, sausage, chicken and ribs. I will also do beans and bring bread, pickles, onions, and BBQ sauce. If someone else will bring plates, plasticwear, napkins and any other sides that would be awesome.

See you guys there!
