theres a bunch of peeps in southeast mi. cg racing lives down by dundee area and im sure he'd let ya jump right in on a caravan i think king nothing lives around there too plus lots of others....for camping just call the number on chucks flyer. its called claybanks township park. and its where everyone stays i think the central sites are 30 & 31? or something like that just ask for as close to the stairs that they have availible in the last two rows over there.

if ya cant find anyone to cruize there with ill be heading out from my house with the g home fri. mid morning id be glad to lead ya the way. :biggrin:

Thats an understatement:bigeyes: I only had 1 gas can last year, I figured there would be a gas station nearby. You had to drive a 1/2 hour to find gas; maybe it wasn't actually a 1/2 hour but it sure felt like it. I'll have to bring more gas cans this year.

well I just called for a site and there is one left near the stair except it is electric, its only 5 more a night but she said the rest are all on the scenic drive site. I think its far aware right. Should I get the electric one even tho we'll be tenting? When she says electric does that mean it just had regular sockets or is it something different for RV's.

coming from the bridge id break off onto 31 south i think its something like mile marker 336? or something like that just stay on 31 S. though traverse city and manistee till you come to us 10. youll be in scottville you have to go right on us10 (west) to get to 31 itll be abought 5 miles down just past meijers get back on 31 S. youll be at mile marker 169 from here just come south to the NEW ERA exit (stoney lake road) between mile marker 141 and 140 get off make a right (west) go to the end of stony lake rd. once there make a left. the campground is on your right about a mile or so down....


next question....the layout is the campground is up on a bank and theres stairs that go down to the beach the launch is down the road about a mile as well...so what we do is come to the campground get set up...say hi...then let someone know your going to put in and someone will be more than willing to either just go with you and drive your truck back or just give you directions and a ride back to get your truck...claybanks is in a quite remote spot so we all line our skis on the beach at night...that way they're all ready in the morning...no worries:biggthumpup:

we are trying to plan some summer trips, but with our work schedules i'm trying to work something out
i even said she could fly out there
it's about a 20hr drive from here
so i'm planning two days driving, 3 days hanging out, 2 days driving home
i can bring enough gas for 4 tanks for me, and her's i can fill up out there
but again we have to see what we can get off from work

would love to ride in that fresh water

i doubt we can match the ratio of, say, riot ride (4 foreign skis for every alabama ski!) but oh well.



btw... if anyone is/wants to come up early... i'm local (10min away) and can ride w/ya any afternoon/evening, give directions, etc...

i also have a cottage on a nice clean quiet lake 10min away if anyone gets desperate some night w/o campspace. you'll need to pitch a tent though... its more like a large outhouse with a couch than a lake house! i'm kinda reserving space for the latecomers/got screwed/slacker crown if any needs arise.

Ok, now I'm thinking about it more. I've met most of the peep posting on this ride and it would be great to hang w/ good folks again. This would be a sole drive from St. louis in fact I havent check the distance yet but 05 lanier i went sole then 06 five buddys from here went. What I'm looking for is if someone could "take me under there wing". I saw that beach pic. no props.(chairs canopies ect.) was that area home base all day?. Many of you and Super rob saw my camp sight any thing I have can be used. Also i was at lanier camp ground Wed. through Sun. Does anyone make it a 3 or 4 day ride! This would be a sole drive from St. louis in fact I havent check the distance yet but 05 lanier i went sole then 06 five buddys from here went. Just got back from ther last night just a heads up no fires on the beach. Jesse the guy that runs the place came down with a cop and took all our names and every thing. We had decent waves on Sat though. No broken skis or body parts all in all a good weekend.

actually i dont think anyone could say anything about it legally last year the state of michigan declared all beach along the lake michigan shore line up to the high water mark public property....might not want to try and push the issue tho'

There are signs that say no camping on the beach we are already gonna be under close watch for drinking probably dont want to push it. I'll have my blaster there for sure as will my buddy.

i think the way to get in good with the local law enforcement is to do a charity raffle for the free stuff. give money to a beech cleanup, the park, or the county foundation (and tell them to put it to something beech related). it really seems that big events are gonna draw some unwanted negative attention... but we could swing a positive swing on it.

it worked in daytona right? you guys seem to be in TIGHT with the lifeguard enforcement.

and i know it did in lanier because we weren't hassled at ALL despite breaking NUMEROUS rules!

i got a hookup for the tix if we wanna get somethin together, and my dad does work for a lot of regional charities/foundations - i could prolly even get the local newspaper out! they love stuff like this.

That sounds like the place! Just head south to the campground... it's about a 10 minute ride but you can't miss 30 standups on the beach!

The water was comfortable, but the chop was horrible.

The launch is interesting as well.
It was nice to see everyone and hang out, but I don't ever need to ride there again.

it was flat when i woke up sunday am.

Someone mentioned it was flatter by the campground, I only rode by the launch, stayed out till 7:00 or so. Nice 2 footers I'd guess.
