any tips?

..tips???...first you gotta be comfortable on the wave..next find a steep section and crank a bottom turn and head for the lip...when you see the section you wanna slash weight your front foot with the pole on the hood..as the nose starts coming around transition your weight to your back foot and you can kind of push the tail out to the desired angle and then unweight it to stop the slide...get back on the gas asap or you will go over the back...dont just grab a handful or you wont get any hook up..you kind of have to ease back into it...thats the run down on doing it on a more open face( the turn im doing)...bouncing off the whitewater or a breaking section is similar but you dont really have to use as much body english cause the wave pushes you in the right direction(te two taylor is doing) obviously he is putting quite a bit of body english into those ones but if you are learning you wont have to worry about looking like that anytime soon...straps help out alot.they really let you control you slashes and help you keep your balance imo..that last pic of taylor is SICK

its kind of a hard thing to explain..its more feel than anything..without tubbies its much harder as well becuase your nose deflects off the whitewater instead of tracking over it

speed
style
position in the wave

you want to hit it harder and faster every time you try... don't worry, you will wreck alot tryin to get the feel of the ski and figuring out timing... Once you get timing down just start adding your own flava...

hit it low and hard for mamximum water thashing

I have a question - any tips on preventing the back end from breaking loose? That's my biggest problem. I'm running the stock ride plate, which might be the biggest cause, but I like it for flatwater. Perhaps the answer is don't ride a flatwater boat in the surf?

well sometimes you want it to break loose...with a dcut it seems you can recover from a slide easier imo...id say just keep a more nutetral stance...look where you want to head and don't push too hard with you back foot...use more subtle bar movements and a steadier throttle finger..

it also depends on where on the wave you are turning..mabye try to keep the ski more on a rail as well that first pic of me im pretty sure im not sliding there..heres a slideshow

these pics i am sliding..my weight looks to be farther over the front..plus im on the top of the wave..

I never had a problem with coming unhooked.....just seemed the waves would either break on me or pick up and drop my nose in the sand.....man thats the worst fealing.

I'd slash and it would feal good, but i just kept getting swallowed

IMO nobody slashes a wave as well as taylor. His look so much better to me because of speed. Most surf only riders tend to putt around waiting on a good wave to jump or ride/slash/ect. Taylor is hard to keep your eyes off of because he is ripping almost 100% of the time. You can really tell he is a former racer.
He takes so much speed into a wave that when he slashes one it looks like the wave gets busted in half! :bigeyes:
Just incredible!!! :hail::hail::hail:

Taylor rips like no other.

I'll tell you this, it's not impossible to slash a wave without tubbies ... but once you do, you'll never want to slash another without them.
