Tail Stand to Hood Ride

I was just messing around a few weeks ago and thought this trick may be easy...

1You can either start from a 180 into tail stand (easier imo) or just slow down lean back and drop into a tail stand.
2To make the trick smoother looking, be quick from tail stand to jumping to the hood. Heres how you do it.
3Get balanced, blip the throttle to raise the nose of the ski high, but not too high to where it the ski falls over on its side.
4When the ski starts to sink grab both hand holds and pull yourself up, legs go around the bars I think.
5When the ski starts to float grab the throttle with your right hand thumb and hold onto left hand hold.
6Give er gas and ride away, you can follow that with a hood riding 180 or 360.

Pretty simple compared to the tricks were you hit throttle with your foot and flip over the front or ride on the hood. Its also a flashier way to get on the hood versus the way Nick(yamaslut) teaches the girl at the last riot ride video how to hood ride forwards.

I find it easer to do on a ski with a front exhost, as most w/o seem to bog down on the 2ed half of the trick where your jumping.

Also your first few times you try you will most likely pinn the throttle with the back of your knee and your now stuck half way on the hood and fighting gravity and you shoes will be locked in the water dragging going full speed across the lake.... dont say i dident warn you o_0

NOw what i have been trying is to spin in to a tailstand form
grab the handhold crank the bars and pin the throttle
in the mean time the ski is supposed to spin 180* and land between your legs
i have not gotten this yet i have come close but i need more work

you need to grab something with your left hand, make a hand hold or tie a thick strap around the base of the handlepole.

heres my philosophy on stock round hoods. They arent worth much to sell once ya save up and buy an aftermarket hood so might as well cut some sort of handhold in if you do a lot of flatwater riding.

ill have a hood for sale with some old old old 247 handholds but that's once i get my bracket to put my wammer on

but indeed it helps out a ton to have something to grab and stick to...put a lil strip of turf on the rail maybe as long as the hoood and you'll be set

I might, or I might just save up this winter. That hurts when your leg gets stuck around the bars like that! Your just along for the ride till the force of the water makes you back flip off :ouch:

finally got the ski tuned just right tonight, may do some filming end of the month maybe, we never really film when we ride.

lol, on my old stock 750 i flipped backwards so many times because of no handholds... all in good fun and laughs.

the first part is kind of a setup for a sprung monkey, which i keep psyching myself out on. i am afraid of smashing my face or nutz on the handle pole.

i tried this today and somehow got my fingers between my pole and my hood now my pointer is a few different shades of blue and purple and i cant feel anything past my knuckle, i am an idiot, anyways i tried again using my middle finger for the trigger and got it, then enjoyed my leg sliding into the throttle and my ski taking off out from under me.... there has to be an easier way to get on the hood

same thing happened to my buddy on a friends round with an ac pole and wammer hood, got his thumb real good but not broken

Gilweed enticed me to turn my roundnose into a sitdown today by getting me to jump up on the hood and ride (it is actually pretty comfortable up there). However, with my stock chin pad, I got my azz slid upside down quite often (exactly like the previously posted pic). I rode Gil's ski, and had no problem whatsoever getting up and sitting on pole. The magic ingredient was the hydroturf on his chinpad. It makes your azz stick, and basically prevents you from sliding back into the tray. :006:I am taking my stock slip and slide cover off and will be turfing it with some scrap I have!

yeah I'm not blessed with handholds either but i almost had riding backwards with out them, i just had 2 much wax on my ski and kept slipping

ive been working on a sprung monkey for the last month or so. ive managed to get up on the hood but the jet ski has either died or i miss the throttle with my foot. i would say front exhaust is almost a must and plan on putting it in as soon as i get some time. is it easier to start with a 180 or riding into a wheelie? ive tried both ways but no luck.
