Hi. I'm new here so I'll introduce myself.
My name is Michael. I'm a sportaholic.
Below is a picture of my 1st ski. I got it last monday, and have had it out 4 of the 8 days I have owned it. I think I can ride it pretty well now that I have 6-8 hours of ride time on it.
It is a 1987 Kawi 650 SX. I am told that the ski was entirely rebuilt in the last 3 years. Turned by Team Scream, BN 44mm carb conversion, stainless prop, intake grate, ride plate and quick steer steering. Oh, it has an added bildge that wasn't mentioned in the add. I think that's it. It runs very good and I'm very happy with it. Excellent power for a beginner. I have only been riding in the lake because it's safe. I'm going to take it to our small surf soon now that I am falling very rarely and handling the bigest boat waves pretty well. I'll post better pics of the boat when I can.
Since I'm intro'ing myself, I'll also mention that I started water skiing when I was 10, Wakeboarding at 16 (though I just now met people who really know how to wakeboard and am doing more with it than just stand there), we've had quads for a while but I just got my 1st race level bike ('02 warrior). I noticed that recently, unlike some people who skip riding so they are not too tired to work, I have been leaving work early so I'm not too tired to ride.
I played Everquest for a while. I dind't have any friends that would do things. I met some new people, who don't believe the television is the goal of life and aren't free-loaders. Finally getting to be active again. It's so great.
I'm 22, born and raise in St. Pete, FL.

I found that user map and it looks like several people live pretty close to me. Ollie is actually just down the street. I usually go to lake seminole and ft. desoto. Maybe I can catch up with some of you stand up riders and you can show me what's up.

Welcome to the X, Grab a chair and stay awhile.
The Hotwater tour will be in St. Pete this weekend, so if you want to see some good racing and freestyle, you should stop by for a while.
Good luck with the Kawi.

Where are those quad pics from? Croom's? Ocala?

THose particular quad pics are from Croom. I have been to Ocala but it's really not worth such a long ride for such stupid rules. $500 fine if you go mudding at Ocala! WTF is that about? We'll be at Croom tonight and tomorrow actually. Anyone is welcome to catch up with us. Ladies, you can share a tent with me if your afraid of the dark. :haha:
The pic I had was from the add. Here's some now that I'm awake enough to take them. Slept 24 of the past 36 hours. I played too hard.
Where's the info on this tour in St. Pete? What day is it? $$? etc.

The voice that is telling me to go ride my quad right now says you're wrong. Tho, the ski voice and the wakeboard voice says the quad voice is wrong. Too many voices. I can't do it all... I must do it all!
Hey, as a side note, if there is anyone reading this like me who is new to stand ups... let me give the #1 piece of advice that anyone will ever give you in your entire stand up jet skiing career...
When laying on your new stand up, getting ready to learn how to get moving and eventually stand up... when laying down... KEEP YOUR MAN PARTS AWAY FROM THE JET WASH. Ouch.:banghead:

My ski was only $800. I am hoping to come across another one. I think my wake/dirt friend will join me on the skis if we can find another. He's already trying to learn how to ride mine.
Can anyone tell me where I can get a good cover for my ski for cheap? Walmart has couch covers for $50. The nice fitted towable kind for $50. My Kawi dealer wants $140. I'll just buy a $10 tarp if I have to. I haven't checked Barney's yet but I bet they are more than $50 there. I'd like to avoid the internet. Think Walmart can get a stand up cover for me?
I have one of those Harbor Freight 2" hitch racks. I was going to mout some wood skids on it and use it for the lake trips. I also need to replace the skids on the trailer for the salt trips. How far apart is ideal for a stand up ski? The trailor it came on is G-rigged~!!
