I need to put some shims in my boat this weekend for my new motor. I don't want to use washers again if I can help it. Who sells them?

I'm hoping to find something local. Don't they use similar shims in alignment work (for cars)?

Yes. Check Auto stores or shops.

Most automotive alignment shims are made out of steel and not got for salt water use.

I would see if Barney’s Yamaha has some in stock locally.

OEMs are the worst waste of money I have ever seen. Go to a machine shop, to a pump shop, to an electric motor shop, etc...and get stainless shim stock, for cents.

Check your phone book and see if you have a Miller Bearing or MSC location in your area. I would imagine you don't have a Daytona Bolt and Nut. All those places will have what you need. Possibly even Grainger. Slotted SS shims are common for machine shops, manufacturing and automotive.
