Anybody know of this piece of crap?
He's from Miami/Dania area.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&item=280054022280

"need a rebuild" I can handle. He must have pulled these out of a saltwater mud puddle where they had been sitting for the last 5 years. he also said a friend of his who races & ownes a shop said they are rebuildable. This is not even rebuildable IMO, more like a doorstop or paperweight.
I paid him an extra $20 for the manifold that was not in the auction. It had about 2lbs of mud still on/in it. The packaging was the crappiest I've seen. Thrown in a box with some loose newspaper.
I took some pics before I sent them back.

http://www.x-h2o.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10055/thumb_DSCN0047.JPG (http://www.x-h2o.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-6375)

I called and called leaving messages. Finally called his wife's work, Grafton Furniture in Dania, explained it to her. He called me back in less than 5 min after I talked to her. He lied, saying the carbs had not been sitting, and they their condtion was 'normal' for salt water carbs. I bitched and argues and he finally agreed to refund only the bid price, not shipping either way. I said fine.
He's had them back since 1/6/07.
Anyway here is the great correspondence on eBay's 'dispute console', it's in order of when I opened the dispute for a misrepresented item.

Item Significantly Not As Described: 1999 Yamaha 760 GP Dual Carbeurators (#280054022280)
Payment Method: US Postal Service Money Order
Payment Date: Dec-05-2006
Additional Details: When the carbs arrived, I noticed how POORLY they were packaged. One of the metal fuel lines was
broken off of one of the carbs due to poor packaging.

The carbs were NOT as advertised. They were
listed as needing a rebuild wich is fine, I can easily rebuild a carb. The carbs are NOT rebuildable.
Everything is rusted together. The carbs and intake manifold look like they have been for sitting 5
years in a saltwater mud puddle.

I have never recieved such useless junk in using eBay in 5+ yrs

First of all they are rebuildable because a friend of mine owns a waverunner shop and rebuilds carbs
everyday. Second the buyer obviously doesn't know that when parts are driven in salt water they GET
CORROSION! Third the items are as described and they ARE REBUILDABLE AND WERE WELL PACKAGED and if I
don't receive the items in the same condition that I sent them in then I will not issue a refund for
the full price. And these items have not been sitting. I will only refund the purchase price.

I filed this before talking to the Mr. & Mrs. Peralta on the phone.
They have agreed to refund the
winning bid price for the carbs and manifold.
As stated earlier, the pulse fuel line fitting was
broken off when I recieved the box. So they will be sent back in the condtion I recieved them, including
the original packaging.
I rebuild my own engines, carbs, etc and race watercraft also and these
carbs are not just 'rebuildable', they are basically trashed.
Thanks,
Andy Bennett

I have mailed the item back on the agreement that they will send a refund for the ending bid price
of $110. The item was returned to them and was recieved on 1/6/07.

BOTH Mrs. & MR. Peralta, have
not bothered to return my calls or emails. Gave them ONE LAST CHANCE TO MAKE THIS RIGHT.

From: chevycp Jan-23-07 at 05:25:44 PST

First of all your email regarding that I am a piece of ******** is uncalled for and secondly the deal was
that you were returning the carbeurators as you received them because you claimed that they were
worthless and you couldn't do anything with them. Well then WHY ARE THEY TAKEN APART AND THERE'S A
SCREW MISSING SINCE YOU'RE SO SMART?? THIS IS NOT HOW THEY WERE SENT SO MY QUESTION TO YOU IS WHAT
ARE YOU LOOKING TO GET REFUNDED NOW SINCE YOU TAMPERED WITH THE ITEM????
__________________________________________________ ______________
From: mtnbkr416 Jan-23-07 at 06:33:50 PST

So you are going to try & argue over 1 screw now? The screw was missing when I got them. You can even
see it's missing in the auction's picture.
All I did was remove the fuel pump side covers and look
at the crusty internals and put it back the way it was. That is not "taken apart".

I guess this
is the only form of communication we can use since you can't seem to return a phone call or ebay
message.

So what's it gonna be man, refund or what? I did my part.........

First of all you CLAIMED that everything was rusted together and you couldn't do anything with them.
NOW you're saying that you did take them apart and looked inside WHICH MEANS THEY ARE NOT RUSTED
TOGETHER AS YOU CLAIM. AND AS SAID BEFORE WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING TO GET REFUNDED BECAUSE THIS IS A BOGUS
CLAIM AND YOU DID TAKE THE CARBS APART SO WHAT AMOUNT ARE YOU LOOKING TO GET REFUNDED??
__________________________________________________ ______________
From: mtnbkr416 Jan-24-07 at 07:48:33 PST

Check your voicemail and CALL ME BACK.
The outside adjust mixture screws (highspeed & lowspeed) are
so corroded they don't turn, the inside jets (main & pilot) are corroded in, as well as the screw
that holds the needle & seat.
Looking to get back the $91 for the ending bid price, + the $20 extra
I sent for that manifold that was still covered with mud where you pulled it out of a ditch or
something.

I SHOULD get back every penny because IT WAS COMPLETLY MISREPRESENTED IN THE AUCTION!

Great reasoning skills.
Claim: They are rebuildable.
Reason: His friend owns a shop. What does one have to do with the other?

I had a couple of sets of Yamaha 44’s and they were almost that bad.

I take them fully apart and then bead blast the bodies. Powdercoat the carbs in epoxy and reassemble them with a Mikuni kit.

damn that is sad that anyone would even try to sell that trash and pass it off as rebuildable!

An auction like that only needs 3 words....

Sold as Is.

If he passed that as repairable... total misrepresentation.

Holy crap! After reading this thread I am completely enraged.:banghead: :aargh4:

Has this a$$hole not refunded your money yet? Something needs to be done about this guy. I wish I lived in So Fla cuz I'd pay this guy a visit for ya.

Has ebay said anything about your claim? If you don't get your money back then you HAVE TO GET EVEN WITH THIS GUY!

Man I am so pissed. Wouldn't that suck if a bunch of random people made up fake user accounts then bid ridiculously high prices on all of his items then not payed and left negative feedback. :sneaky: I hope no one would ever do such a thing.:cool2:

In the last 5+ years as an eBay memer, I have never had to file a claim to try and get eBay to reimburse me 70% of my loss. Well, no real suprise, it's a joke. You have to have tracking info if you sent the item back, have to have a 3rd party do a formal letter saying the item is junk, pay $4 to get the Post Office to get a copy of the cashed M.O., etc. Then maybe you get some $$ back.

Get yourself a gmail account and then place an ad in the local Craigslist with something in high demand at a can't-pass-up price with his name and phone number. If you do it first thing in the morning, he'll probably not have a way to contact Craigslist until the evening, meanwhile he gets a boat load of phone calls and voicemails. If you can put an ad for something he's selling on eBay, even better.
