After the ipperwash ride I will be hosting a party at my place
http://www.x-h2o.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=10850&d=1158714845
see afterparty thread for directions and details.
On the 30th we will ride the hothole in Monroe, Michigan
directions (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=monroe,+mi&ie=UTF8&z=15&ll=41.871542,-83.3746&spn=0.014221,0.053988&t=h&om=1)
(follow red line)take 75 to the Laplaisance rd. exit. From there go strait across Laplaisance rd onto waters edge dr. follow that back to the parking lot and that is where we all put the skis in. from there just ride out of the no wake zone into lake erie and stay far away from the edge because of real thick seaweed, and strait into the hothole. cant miss the tall powerplant tower.

I like this getting the dates out early for the upcoming season now I can set them in stone on the calendar. Now all we need is a date for Lanier.

Ok, so are we doing anything besides riding this year? Any chance we'll have a sick trick contest, or a build-off?

King, are you taking over the FSF duties from Darin?

DJ, yes I will be hosting FSF this year. I need to get ahold of steve about the canadian day of the ride before I post all the info.
Will definatly have a grille and lots of burgers and hotdogs on the penn. this year! The reason I left the last you years was because I or my group was hungry. There will also be a decent sized fire and dry wood so that everyone not in the water can keep warm.
Snow, I thought about that and it might be hard to pull something like that off in the small hothole. But since its one of two(lanier being the other) rides in flat water, I thought maybe a hood race or hood freestyle contest? Im no good on the hood but I thought it would be interesting to watch. Its up to you guys, ill just try to make it happen.

I say it's a freeride. Keep it free. No contests or competitions....
Just my opinion.

We always do an event in IL on the weekend of the 30th, so there is no way we can attend. I would also think you take a risk of cooler weather by moving back one week,

Should be more than enough room for everyone between the two extra rooms in my house, the living room, the upstairs of the barn, downstair of the barn and if anyone wants to bring a tent and camp I have 7 acres of flat ground.
enough room for everyone to crash. but tim and nick are now getting vip treatment. haha

Sounds like Im going to be bringing a tent to freestyle fest...so is the date set yet or is it expected to change...a bit earlier would be nice because it would be warmer but Im not complaining. Looking forward to meeting some of you guys as I was not able to go to Daytona!

I plan on sleeping in my car.
...If I dont pass out on the hood of it first.

yup this will be the last time many people around here will get to ride for the year. unless you plan on heading out to the jersey rager! I had a blast the last two years.
yamanube, and alex there will be plenty of room for everyone inside. If you want privacy in a tent or you car thats cool with me. just want everyone to know that if its cold or rainy,(hard to predict that time of year) there will be a nice warm place for you.

I want to make it to one or the other... I am thinking MI... Any hotels around the area? or how friendly do I have to get with you king to crash at your place? No spooning right?
Anyone have an address to the MI local? I know its a far way out, but I would like to start planning, and getting money figured out and what not... I want to hit a few rides on the tour this year if I can...
I also want to drag along some more of the MN people along as well...Yamanube is driving the short bus on the way there!

Minnesota you would want to ferry across the Lake Michigan and come south down I 75 to east I 69 straight to the Bluewater bridge. From there you can hook up with some of us for the candian portion.
As for Monroe, just follow some of us down. It would be I 94 west, right off of the Bluewater bridge, take it down the I 75 south and get off around the Kings place.
To get back to Minnesota from monroe just jump back on I 75, take it north for a couple hours and then to the ferry back across LM.

jetdude, I know bob evans is an annual morning meeting place. Last year everyone that stayed at my place went to mcdonalds for breakfast. Its only a few miles from my place and it gives you a chance to digest your breakfast on the drive to the water. If you all want to do the bobevans things its cool with me, but just letting you know theres another option.
nothing beat bob evans after driving down sun. morning last year...it hit the spot!

Hey guys, I'm realatively new to this site, and i'm really interested in getting to some of these freerides - especially the one in ipperwash. I just rode there last week & met "sjet" there. It's a great place to ride but i'm a little confused by this thread. Is there something in monroe MI that weekend, or is it all ipperwash, or is there some kind of hothole at ipperwash or something? sorry to be a retard but can somebody just lay out what the deal-e-o is?

Man I would love to come to this ride! --> but it's in CANADA on saturday..... and then monroe on Sunday.... I will still think about it, but you guys should think about switching the dates around next year, so that the Monroe date is on Saturday... I dont want anybody to get their panties in a bunch... that's just my personal opinion. It just seems like the Monroe site would work better for most riders, unless a lot of you guys are from Canada, and Saturday is usually a better day as far as people being free to do something it seems. If most of you guys are from Canada then I guess the dates make sense.

It actually works better for the US guys because they can make the longer drive Friday night/Sat morning, come back across on Saturday for the party, then go home a shorter distance on Sunday night to work on Monday.
This has been beaten to death before, it works better this way for more people.

Is it pretty easy to take your ski over the border? Do they ever give you any crap? How long of a drive is it from monroe to the canada location?

It appeals more if you live in Ohio... less obviously if you live by Canada...

Just the fact that it's only 90 miles from you makes it desirable I'd think. Heck, the closest one to me is 5 hours this year and I'm making that drive.

It will take your approximately the same amount of time from your house if your going to ipperwash or monroe(roughly 45 min to an hr).

It's about a mile or so from the ramp to the riding area.
Some people just ride back to gas up after a while. Others like myself take a 5 gallon jug with us. I strap mine in the front of the tray. I have a low profile Moose Racing jug so it fits perfectly.
Even if you run out of gas there, someone will have enough gas to get you back to the ramp to fill up or go get your jug for you.

I'm out. Stupid family gatherings :banghead:
Give me a break Matt, now you're starting to sound like me (but I have a wife and kids). Unacceptable. It looks like I have clearance for Ipperwash. I had hoped to know someone there. Lone Wolfin it again, dang it. :grumble:

Good point. There are actually two gas stations there that I forgot to mark on the map. One is near the grocery store and the other is a down west Ipperwash rd towards the lake. I'm not sure what either has for high octane fuel. If you need 92,93,94 octane you might want to get some in London, Forest or Sarnia as you are passing thru. There is a Sunoco in Sarnia just off HY 402 at Airport rd that has 94 octane.
