*If plan on becoming a pro or currently hold an APBA pro member card you must register as a pro rider.

**If you do not have an APBA membership card, have never competed in a event, or are currently competing in amature freestyle you are classified as an amature rider.

***We reserve the right to classify riders if we feel they are at a different skill level than stated.

Rules and Conditions

The Sick Trick challenge will be judged by three (3) seperate Hot Water Tour Staff members and the grand prize winners will be determined by the combination of these three judges decisions.

Amature and Pro riders will be seperated into heats and will have two (2) waves to try and pull the "Sickest Trick" they can. A sick trick is very hard to define and therefore the judgeing will be subjective to what the Hot Water Tour Staff feels constitutes a "Sick Trick". The event will be held during a certain time slot which will be announced the day of the event.

This event is designed to boost interest levels in Amature Freestyle as well as boost the level of riding from Pro riders. This is a freeride event, therefore, it is considered a non-event and is NOT sanctioned by any sanctioning body including the APBA, IJSBA, or Hot Water Tour. By registering for this event you are agreeing to the terms and conditions for this contest.

Rules Subject to change.

See You there!!

This is a free ride!!!

The best way to judge is a panel of the riders them selves.
Let it be critiqued by the riders competing.
Nothing like living up to the standards of your piers?
Keep it simple, keep it FUN!!

I agree completely.Somehow the panel of judges always seem crooked to me .
Like when you see a boxing match and one guy is bloodied beyond belief with 2 black eyes and the other guy doesnt have a mark on him and the bloodied guy wins the fight :sneaky:

I hope we aren't going to make everybody stop riding and get out of the water for 3 hours for a competition...

Maybe do it on a small section of the beach. Sorry, just not a fan of competition with one or two riders out there at a time with 200 skis sitting on the beach.

agreed! thought the cherry buster was pushing the lines of FREEride but that is all in fun. this seems more like we would be really competing against each other. whatever happens, im just out to have a good time

Instead of paying out $200.00 why dont you take half and donate it along with the other donations from the ride, or all of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope we aren't going to make everybody stop riding and get out of the water for 3 hours for a competition... agreed, the zone is supposed to be extra wide. there might be room for the cherry buster and the sickest trick to happen while people are still riding.

Hot Water Tour Staff
12-17-2006, 11:26 AM
We agree. Keep in mind. We're riders just like everyone else and will be out there riding as well.
The last thing we want to do is take away from your riding time.

We spoke with Yamaslut about it and both the Cherrybuster and Sick Trick challenge will be in a small section of the beach and freeriding will still be allowed.

These are somewhat informal challenges just go get people to push themselves a bit and to also try something that they have been wanting to do, but just needed a bit of motivation to do so.
We also don't want either one to drag on for three hours because, to be honest, we wanna be out there riding instead of watching everyone else having all the fun.

That's what this whole freeride is about, having fun, hangin' with friends, doing what we love doing, and if you can walk away with a bit of shwag by pushing yourself a bit, all the better.:Banane01:

This sickest trick comp and the cherry buster in no way changes anything as far as Daytona being a freeride. As long as people don't have to pay to enter, or join a sanctioning body its still free and everyone can still go out and ride.
We had a sickest trick at lanier and it was awesome! I'd say it lasted around 30 min, and no one was told they couldn't ride during it.
Competition fuels progression in every sport, and having a few little comps during a freeride is great!

Hot Water Tour Staff
12-17-2006, 09:13 PM
Thanks Ally!!

Ronny..Couldn't of said it better myself. Progression being the key word. It's what gets any sport to the next level and fuels people to try bigger and better things everytime they hit the water.

And a little entertainment factor also. Win-win in my opinion.

Now, who's in?? Should we start a roll call thread?

Just to let everyone know that you dont have to be able to do a back flip to enter the "sick trick" comp. You never know who might win. So if you're thinking about entering DO IT!! It will be a blast!

MADMAT
12-18-2006, 09:17 AM
I don't think a backflip could win it anymore. Maybe a bflip variation though!

I can't wait to watch!

just to reiterate.... We both put a lot of thought into weather this was gonna disrupt the flow of the day and we decided doing it in a flagged off area directly in front of the hotel would not disrupt anything. If you want to ride still, that is not a problem... THERE WILL NOT BE RESTRICTIONS ON WHEN YOU RIDE... Like paul said... It's a freeride!! This contest is for the crowd and to push the limits a bit...

This contest was killer! I saw things I have never seen before.

Pete stomped the biggest backflip I have seen landed. I don't think he even got his hair wet.

Stoyer needed clearance from Nasa to go that high.

Jerry definately threw in the curve ball with a barrel rolling blaster with a ballsey backflip pancake.

2 Ride stepped up with a double roll attempt.

Mikey Serlin pulled out the double money maker and made it look almost as pretty as he looks on the beach! Congrats!

You guys put on the best show I have ever witnessed.

Cheers!

Leggdragger...thank you for the props. We had a blast putting the contest on and watching the best in the bizz going off!! They definetly made our job of judgeing the contest tough.

It was a killer weekend and we had a good time riding our skis in the surf and meeting everyone. HUGE THANK YOU to all the riders that rode in the event and making it what it was and to Nick for letting us contribute to the freeride event. I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we did.

CONGRATS to Mike Serlin in Pro class….Hope that $200 at least covered a part of your bar tab over the weekend.
CONGRATS to Rob Crossley in Amateur class….Its going to be an awesome 2007 season make sure you come out to all the rounds

Let me start out by apologizing for not being there this weekend. I was freezing my a$$ off in Colorado in -10 degree weather. Although it was good to get out on that snowboard again. From what I hear I missed some great action and Im glad it turned out so well. I cant wait to see the pics from Ronny.

Big Thanks to the Hot Water Tour crew Pete, Mike, Chase and Paula for making the “Sick Trick” happen.
Thanks Ronny for designing a killer t-shirt and stickers.
Thanks to all the riders for coming out and going huge. Hope to see you guys on the Tour this year.
and finally Thanks yamaslut for putting the Daytona Freeride together. Hope we can do something in 2008.
